Did you know...we sell more than half a million tickets to cultural performances every year at venues including Fairfield Halls (BH Live), Bournemouth Pavilion and Bournemouth International Centre ? It takes a team of talented professionals to make sure it all runs smoothly. We sat down with Colin, our Ticketing Manager, to find out more: ? What is a typical day like? "I am responsible for overseeing our ticketing processes across three entertainment venues, making sure every show and performance is set up and easy for customers to see what's on and buy tickets. Part of my role involves speaking with tour promoters, external agents, managing systems, and supporting our awesome ticketing colleagues." ? What has your career journey been at BH Live? "I started as a cashier ten years ago, before progressing to Supervisor and then Assistant Ticketing Manager. I started my current role a few years ago." ? What is your favourite thing about your job? "I love the buzz that working in the live events industry brings, offering customers the chance to see some of their favourite artists and performers." ? What do you need to be successful in your role? "Never be afraid to ask questions and always be willing to develop and learn new skills – we have so many experienced and talented people in our organisation and I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to always listen to your colleagues." ? What do you enjoy the most about working for BH Live? "The people! There is a real sense of community across all of our teams. It makes it a joy to come to work each day." Thanks to our new partnership with the Andrew Simpson Foundation , children from serving Naval families across Portsmouth are invited to take part in the Swim Free programme at Mountbatten Leisure Centre ???? Children from the armed forces often miss out on enrolling in long-term courses such as swimming lessons due to frequent relocation. As well as delivering an opportunity to learn this life-saving skill, the Swim Free programme enables participants to meet other young people with a serving parent, helping to foster friendships and build a sense of belonging in the Royal Navy community through funded swimming lessons ?? More than 90 solar panels have been installed at Littledown, promoting sustainable energy and reducing the leisure centre’s carbon footprint ?? We've funded this investment in partnership with Empower Energy Ltd. to boost the centre’s green credentials ?? The solar panels are expected to offset around 23 tonnes of carbon every year, and generate more than 41,000 kWh of energy – enough to power more than 15 UK homes for one year ?? Our team at Littledown Leisure Centre has been applauded by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) for their quick and professional response to emergencies ?? DSAA Team Appreciation letters are sent to individuals or teams whose actions, words or behaviours are recognised as being “exceptional” and “above and beyond” expectations. The centre recently received a Team Appreciation certificate for their “rapid” and “outstanding” administration of CPR and defibrillation to a customer who experienced cardiac arrest at the centre. Emergency services quickly attended and the customer later made a full recovery. We are so proud of our team for their response and dedication to customer safety ??
