Powerful insights from our own Matt Broussard on the progress - and the urgent work still ahead - in expanding access to life-saving treatment in Alabama. Let’s keep pushing for policies that put patients first.???
Alabama has made real strides in expanding access to life-saving opioid treatment, but proposed Medicaid cuts risk reversing gains. We can’t afford to let our progress falter — lawmakers must protect what’s working, reject harmful rollbacks and stand firm for evidence-based care. https://ow.ly/Ax0x50VpgCl

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, about 95% of people with a substance use disorder (SUD) don't seek treatment - largely due to stigma. This barrier prevents individuals from accessing the care they need and deserve. Benjamin R. Nordstrom, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer, explains how stigma has shaped perceptions of addiction and why recognizing it as a medical condition is an essential step forward. ?? https://lnkd.in/d6AM4cK4 #BHG #LeadingWithPurpose #Stigma #EndTheStigma #AddictionRecovery

?? Rhode Island Employee Spotlight: Greg Graustein ?? Meet Greg Graustein, our dedicated Regional Outreach Manager for the five Behavioral Health Group - BHG treatment centers in Rhode Island. Greg’s passion for helping others was sparked at a young age, inspired by his mother’s volunteer work at women’s shelters. His career began at a local Mental Health Center right after college, where he was exposed to the daily struggles people face with addiction. Through this experience, Greg gained insights into various approaches to treatment—some successful, others not—giving him a unique perspective on the ever-evolving landscape of addiction care. This background has allowed him to collaborate with state leaders and play a key role in advancing patient-centered care. With over 35 years in the field, Greg is most proud of the countless patients he has helped, both directly as an LCDP and indirectly through his administrative and outreach roles. He finds it rewarding to walk into a conference and see so many colleagues he’s known throughout his career, still passionate and committed to the field. The BHG mission of client-centered care is something Greg deeply believes in. He’s proud to be part of a team that places patients at the heart of their treatment, empowering them to help guide their own recovery. From day one, Greg has felt welcomed with open arms and truly part of the BHG Rhode Island team. A few fun facts about Greg: He’s been happily married for over 35 years and has two adult daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as his loyal companion, Roo, his white boxer. Greg is an avid reader, loves watching just about any sport on TV, and enjoys traveling. And here’s a hidden talent—Greg can juggle!
