B Global by Design is a nonprofit created to fill a major gap in donor, public, and private funding in creative economies throughout the world, especially in developing and under resourced economies. We believe creatives fuel economic growth, social cohesion, better health, resilience, fun, connection, and culture. B Global by Design’s mission is to use design thinking to co-create tools, networks, opportunities, research, and lessons to position creatives and designers as the engine of economic, social, and cultural transformation. We identify needs and then work through our diverse global partners, who represent various industries, nonprofits, education, and public organizations encompassing creative economies, to provide mentoring, peer-to-peer consulting, training, workshops, best practices, and other capacity development programs. Participants are invited to join B Global by Design’s global network of creatives and designers for future collaboration. The network will share their stories, art, lessons, music, etc. in the B Global Café – a multimedia platform, marketed to a global audience - for creatives from unrepresented communities.

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to go to Washington, D.C. to attend the SID Annual Dinner hosted by Society for International Development, United States (SID-US) where over 800 professionals met for a night of knowledge sharing, delicious food, and networking. I got to hear from former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the recipient of the 2024 SID-US Award for Outstanding Leadership in International Development (one of the most accomplished people I’ve had the privilege of listening to!), and it was truly an enlightening experience. This time after graduation can be daunting, but Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said something that stuck with me: “If your dreams aren’t scaring you, you’re not dreaming big enough.” What a fun way for the B Global by Design team to meet in person for the first time.
