While women make up nearly 47% of the U.S. workforce, they represent only 11% of the construction industry—a number that has been steadily growing in recent years. In architecture, women account for about 23% of licensed architects in the U.S., contributing their vision and expertise to a field that has historically been male-dominated. ? Congratulations to Gabriela S. Ortega on her one-year anniversary at BGK Architects! Over the past year, Gabby has made incredible contributions to the firm, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she’s worked with. Her dedication shines through on projects like the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Fine Arts Building and the Texas State Academic Building. We’re also deeply grateful for her initiative in connecting BGK with meaningful volunteer opportunities through programs like the NOMAS Project Pipeline. Gabby’s enthusiasm extends beyond the office as she represented BGK in the ACE Mentorship Austin bowling league. In her free time, she enjoys boxing with her husband, Julian, and playing with their adorable corgi, Tots. Thank you, Gabby, for your hard work and passion, here’s to many more milestones ahead!

Lindsey Webb - With a background in fine arts and interior design, Lindsey’s brings a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to all her projects. Her expertise extends to Branded Environments, where the focus is on enhancing user experiences within built spaces. Lindsey has contributed to a diverse range of projects, including large corporate offices, student housing, educational, hospitality, and wellness spaces nationwide. She thrives on understanding her client's unique brand and character, ensuring every project feels authentic and tailored to their vision. Thank you, Lindsey, for your leadership, vision & energy you bring to our office, your team and clients. Keith Pinkelman – Keith joined BGK in 2013 and has been an essential part of the team ever since. With exceptional expertise in construction detailing and digital computing, Keith excels as a designer, project manager, and architect. He also leads the firm's rendering and visualization initiatives. His experience spans meticulously designed buildings, master planning, and comprehensive feasibility studies for clients such as The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, and Texas State University. Thank you Keith for your unwavering work ethic, talent and leadership and cheers to you. Chris Gonzalez, AIA, LEED Green Associate - With over 15 years of professional experience in Texas, Chris possesses a diverse portfolio, encompassing educational, commercial, multifamily, and civic projects. His balanced approach to creative and technical design ensures that initial concepts and project goals are seamlessly carried through from Schematic Design to Construction. Known to clients and colleagues for his keen eye to detail and strong organizational skills Chris is also valued for his insight, leadership, and positive attitude. Last Friday, BGK Architects was honored by the IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter for their innovative design of the Make It Center at Austin Community College's Highland Campus. Located on the second floor of the former Highland Mall, the Make It Center invites visitors of all ages to explore career pathways through hands-on discovery. ? This project marks a continuation of BGK’s nearly decade-long collaboration with ACC on the transformation of the Highland Mall. The design seamlessly integrates natural wood accents, perforated metal elements, and acoustic felt ceiling panels, contrasted by exposed steel and overhead mechanical systems. ? A standout feature is the operable glass partition, which creates an uninterrupted corner, opening the inspiration hub to the surrounding common area. The space serves as a dynamic hub for lectures, presentations, showcases, simulations, and even includes a fab lab.
