Celebrating Women in Construction Week... Women continue to make incredible strides in the architecture and construction industries, bringing creativity, leadership, and innovation to the built environment. At BGK Architects, we’re proud to celebrate the talented women on our team who play a vital role in shaping the spaces where people live, work, and learn. ? While women make up nearly 47% of the U.S. workforce, they represent only 11% of the construction industry—a number that has been steadily growing in recent years. In architecture, women account for about 23% of licensed architects in the U.S., contributing their vision and expertise to a field that has historically been male-dominated. ? This week, we recognize the incredible impact of the women at BGK Architects and across the industry. Their dedication, skill, and leadership continue to push boundaries and pave the way for future generations. ? Join us in celebrating and supporting women in construction and architecture!? #WomenInConstruction #NationalWICWeek #BGKArchitects #DesigningTheFuture

关于我们
At BGK Architects, we are passionate about creating high-quality, purpose-driven spaces that inspire and empower. Based in Austin, Texas, our HUB-certified firm specializes in architecture, interior design, and master planning, with a legacy of excellence that dates back to 1985. Our journey began with a transformative experience designing over 20 buildings for the Texas School for the Deaf, shaping our commitment to education, student success, and mission-driven projects. This pivotal work established our design philosophy: listen first, collaborate deeply, and deliver exceptional results through an inclusive, stakeholder-driven process. For the past 25 years, BGK has been a trusted partner to Texas’s premier higher education institutions including every major public university within the state, private universities, and numerous community and technical colleges. Our expertise extends beyond higher education, spanning the full spectrum of academic environments including early childhood education and K-12. This broad experience informs and elevates outcomes for all our educational clients. We understand the unique challenges of institutional work—navigating active campuses, fixed budgets, and tight academic schedules—and thrive on turning those challenges into opportunities. Our work has earned recognition from industry leaders like the American Institute of Architects, Texas Society of Architects, Urban Land Institute, and more. At BGK Architects, we’re not just building spaces; we’re shaping experiences and driving success through thoughtful design.

Last Friday, BGK Architects was honored by the IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter for their innovative design of the Make It Center at Austin Community College's Highland Campus. Located on the second floor of the former Highland Mall, the Make It Center invites visitors of all ages to explore career pathways through hands-on discovery. ? This project marks a continuation of BGK’s nearly decade-long collaboration with ACC on the transformation of the Highland Mall. The design seamlessly integrates natural wood accents, perforated metal elements, and acoustic felt ceiling panels, contrasted by exposed steel and overhead mechanical systems. ? A standout feature is the operable glass partition, which creates an uninterrupted corner, opening the inspiration hub to the surrounding common area. The space serves as a dynamic hub for lectures, presentations, showcases, simulations, and even includes a fab lab. Truly, the Make It Center is an immersive environment designed to inspire and engage. *Photos by Likeness Studio
