Before posting personal or work-related information online, always think twice. Cybercriminals can use publicly available information to craft targeted attacks, so be mindful of what you share. Adjust your privacy settings to limit access to sensitive details and never post about upcoming vacations or being away from home. Sharing such information can alert criminals that your home is unoccupied, making it an easy target for burglary. Additionally, when taking pictures or participating in work-related events, remember to check with your supervisor or follow company guidelines before publicly sharing photos. This helps protect both personal privacy and company security.

BGI Security Week - Day 4 Tip: Regularly Update Software and Systems Ensure your devices are powered on and connected to the network so that all software, apps, and operating systems can be updated. Regular updates are crucial as they often include patches for vulnerabilities that hackers may exploit. Keeping everything up to date is a simple yet highly effective step in securing your systems—think of it as your devices jumping over obstacles and dodging potential cyber threats with ease! Make it a habit to restart your device at least once a week. This ensures that all updates are properly installed and can help resolve any "bugs" or glitches that may have been affecting your device's performance. Key updates to check: Operating System Updates: Always install the latest patches for your device’s operating system. Manufacturer Tools: Many manufacturers provide update tools or software management apps to keep your system current. App Store: Regularly check your app store for updates to installed apps. By staying current with updates, you significantly reduce your risk of cyber threats.
