After working in Sun Valley, I now know that the negative outcomes associated with gentrification - displacement and neighborhood character change - are still very real risks for low-income communities. And publicly sanctioned gentrification - or the forced displacement of low-income communities by governmental institutions - is not a thing of the past. https://lnkd.in/gmD-8FFE

I've been a Fellow at the National Civic League since 2018. The partnership strengthens my commitment to equity, and it continuously reminds me to keep local communities at the center of my equitable development work. To my colleagues at the League: thank you for featuring my work in this month's newsletter, and I look forward to the collaboration ahead! https://lnkd.in/gWvv2GvQ

New blog post! "Whichever way you slice it, the economy is dependent on women. It's dependent on our free labor as homemakers and mothers, and it's dependent on our paid labor as participants in the workforce. The work of women is economically fundamental, whichever path we choose. And if we don't pick one or the other and choose - or are forced by circumstance - to do both? Well, these women carry the weight of the economy on their backs." #womeninwork #genderequity #genderequality #equitabledevelopment #urbandevelopment #maternityleave #economy #womenintheworkforce https://lnkd.in/g3rQ-fa4
