Autumn has finally arrived it seems, and we are starting to get some precipitation across the wasatch. Before we get into the depths of winter, take a good long look at your tire tread. If you think tread doesn't matter, consider this; motorcycle rain race tires move an estimated 4 liters of water per second to allow the fastest motorcycle racers in the world to continue racing despite wet weather conditions. Keep you, your family, and the rest of us safe. Check your tread! #safety #health #prevention #autumnsafetytips #safetytips #rain #weather

Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) are the conditions in which people live, work, and interact that impact their health and wellbeing. These factors — including access to healthy food, healthcare, education, economic stability, and a safe environment — play a bigger role in shaping health outcomes than genetics or medical care alone. In fact, studies show that up to 80% of a person’s health is determined by SDOH.* As an employer, you’re in a powerful position to positively influence these determinants. Here’s how: ? Create a Supportive Environment Action: Offer mental health resources, such as access to counseling or stress management tools. Ensure job demands and resources are aligned. Why? Employees dealing with mental health challenges are 2.6 times more likely to experience poor work performance. Prioritizing mental health at work can boost productivity and reduce absenteeism. ? Promote Healthy Eating Action: Provide access to nutritious snacks, or partner with local farms for fresh food deliveries. Why? 74% of U.S. adults don’t meet dietary guidelines for fruits and vegetables. Small changes like offering healthy snacks can encourage better eating habits and promote long-term health. ? Offer Financial Wellness Programs Action: Help employees manage financial stress through budgeting tools, retirement planning resources, or emergency savings programs. Why? Financial stress affects 63% of U.S. employees, which can lead to anxiety, burnout, and lower job satisfaction. Financial literacy programs can alleviate stress and enhance overall wellbeing. ? Improve Access to Care Action: Provide flexible healthcare options, including telemedicine, health savings accounts, and paid time off for medical appointments. Why? Access to care is a major barrier for many. By offering comprehensive healthcare benefits and supporting preventive care, you empower employees to prioritize their health without added stress. ? Foster Social Connections Action: Organize team-building activities, create inclusive spaces, and offer volunteer opportunities. Why? Strong social connections are linked to a 50% increased chance of longevity and lower risks of chronic conditions like heart disease. A supportive workplace culture promotes not only health, but also retention and engagement. Addressing SDOH isn’t just about health — it’s about creating a thriving workplace where employees feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. By improving these factors, you invest in the long-term success of both your business and your people. Wanna talk about how to get started improving your employees health and productivity? If Gen Z wasn't already making you feel confused with Rizz, FAM and Simp, here's some alphabet soup to chew on... ICHRA "ick-rah," similar to "icky" with "rah" at the end ?? GCHRA: ɡ?k.r? "gick-rah" Gecko what? ?? QSHRA: "Q-sara" Like Q-tip but with Sara the girls name. ?? All of the above are forms of Health Reimbursement Arrangements. Individual coverage HRA. Group coverage HRA. Qualified small-employer HRA. Health reimbursement arrangements are a way to set aside funds for employee's health benefits. They can be a cost effective way to enhance your benefit offerings, control costs or empower employees to make the best decisions for themselves or their families. Each type of HRA has it's own set of rules and regulations. And each type has it's own pros and cons. Interested in exploring what an HRA could do for you and your employees? Common ownership: What is it and what does it have to do with health insurance? Under the Affordable Care Act, businesses with 50 or more full time equivalent employees are required to offer affordable health insurance to employees. Businesses with common ownership are treated as one entity and may be an Applicable Large Employer for purposes of complying with the Employer Mandate. So, how is common ownership defined? The ACA references IRS section 414 in defining what is a "controlled group". The thing to know is if you have ownership in multiple companies, the total employee count of those companies is what you need to consider first if you are trying to determine whether or not the Employer Mandate applies to your business. #aca #compliance #affordablecareact #healthinsurance #business

Crafting a workout routine often involves the choice between compound movements and single joint exercises. While both have benefits, compound movements offer distinct advantages that make them indispensable. Here's why they outshine single joint exercises: ??Comprehensive Muscle Engagement ?? Compound movements integrate multiple joints and muscle groups in one exercise, such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and pull-ups. By employing various muscles simultaneously, compound exercises allow for heavier lifting and greater muscle fiber activation compared to single joint exercises like bicep curls or leg extensions. This results in comprehensive muscle development and enhanced strength. ? Time Efficiency ? In a fast-paced world, time-efficient workouts are crucial. Compound movements provide a solution by targeting multiple muscle groups in a single exercise. This means you can achieve a full-body workout in less time, freeing up your schedule for other activities. ??♂? Functional Strength and Performance ??♂? Compound movements mirror real-life motions, improving functional strength and performance. Whether you're lifting objects, participating in sports, or performing daily tasks, compound exercises train your body to function cohesively, reducing the risk of injury and enhancing overall physical capabilities. ?? Increased Caloric Expenditure?? Due to their multi-joint nature, compound movements require more energy, leading to higher calorie expenditure compared to single joint exercises. This makes them ideal for individuals seeking fat loss and improved metabolic health. ♂ Hormonal Response ♀ Compound movements trigger a robust hormonal response, particularly the release of testosterone and growth hormone, crucial for muscle growth and repair. Incorporating compound movements optimizes hormonal balance, fostering muscle development and recovery. While both compound movements and single joint exercises have value, the array of benefits offered by compound movements make them indispensable for any workout regimen. Whether your goal is muscle building, strength enhancement, or overall fitness improvement, prioritizing compound movements ensures efficient and effective progress. So, next time you hit the gym, remember to prioritize compound movements for optimal results! #FitnessFriday #fitnessfacts #exercise #lifeisasport #fitness #health #strength #prevention #performance #wellbeing #wellness

On this episode of acronyms explained; Max Out of Pocket Vs. Annual Maximum The Max Out-of-Pocket (MOOP) is your financial safety net. It's the most you'll pay for covered services in a year. Once you hit this limit, your insurer pays 100% of the remaining covered expenses. The Annual Maximum is the opposite. It's the most your plan will pay for your covered care in a year. After you reach this cap, you're responsible for all additional costs. Usually you will see a Max Out of Pocket on your health insurance. Particularly if you are on an Affordable Care Act Plan. Annual Maximums are usually part of ancillary coverage, such as your dental or vision policy. Key Differences: MOOP: Limits your expenses. After hitting it, insurance covers everything. Annual Maximum: Limits insurer's payout. After hitting it, you cover everything. Know these limits to better understand your financial responsibilities and coverage. Where Is Radon a Problem? ?? Basements and Ground Floors: Radon typically enters through cracks in the foundation, walls, and floors. ?? Old and New Buildings: Both old and new structures can have radon problems. ?? Geographical Hotspots: Certain areas are more prone to radon, especially regions with high natural uranium content in the soil, like parts of the Midwest and Northeast U.S. How to Test for Radon? Purchase a Radon Test Kit: Available online or at hardware stores. Hire a Professional: For a more accurate and thorough assessment. Conduct a Short-term or Long-term Test: Short-term tests take 2-7 days, while long-term tests can last up to 90 days for a better average reading. What Does Radon Mitigation Look Like?
