Leaving?#COP29?with a mix of reflection and resolve. Founding Executive Director, Lauren Grant, and Programme Coordinator, Gabriela Nagle Alverio, were privileged to represent the BCC by engaging and facilitating critical dialogues on?#resilience,?#climateducation,?#knowledgeproduction,?#climatejustice?and?#decoloniality?in the context of environmental (im)mobilities. These discussions highlighted both progress made in the field and the immense challenges still ahead. We were delighted to connect with powerful, change-making colleagues and organizations working to advance climate mobility justice, including alumni of the International School on Climate Mobilities! We express our solidarity with developing nations in the wake of disappointing outcomes from the?#COP29?negotiations. As we leave Baku with new connections, friends and colleagues, we are energized to advance our mission supporting emerging leaders advance?#EnvironmentalMobilityJustice?. The clock is ticking, and the world cannot afford incremental change. It’s time for large-scale, transformative action to ensure that efforts to advance the well-being of the planet and her people are rooted in rights, dignity, equality and justice. With special thanks to Just Atonement Inc. and Dave-Inder Comar for their support towards our presence at COP. And to our event partners IOM - UN Migration, Global Centre for Climate Mobility, We Are Family Foundation, La Ruta del Clima, Duke University & all the other great organisation we were able to exchange with.

Exchanging knowledge, ideas and resources to support emerging leaders advance environmental mobility justice
关于我们
We build bridges to support emerging leaders in their processes of (un)learning and (re)imagining how we think about and address climate-related (im)mobilities through the lenses of social, migrant, racial, feminist, economic and environmental justice. Together, we uplift a new generation to pioneer and co-create timely, cross-sectoral, just and sustainable solutions to environmental-related injustices that reduce risks, reinstill people-power and bolster the resilience of the planet and her people to the impacts of climate change and beyond.

?? ?? I am incredibly honored and excited to facilitate this discussion on 'Decolonizing Knowledge Production on Climate-Related (Im)mobilities' at #COP29 ?? Amidst a robust agenda of informative and engaging #ClimateMobility events at the COP, few have shed light on the unevenness of #KnowledgeProduction on the topic, a challenge that cannot be overlooked as critical Global South perspectives remain marginalized. ?? Effectively unpacking and adequately addressing climate-related (im)mobilities requires us to disrupt these inequities, to value the knowledge and wisdom of ALL researchers and those with lived experience and to expand opportunities for engagement, beyond exclusionary spaces in #research, #advocacy and #praxis. ?? ?? Decolonizing Knowledge Production on Climate-Related (Im)mobilities at #COP29! Did you know that by 2050, over 200M people may be displaced by climate change—and yet 85% of those in high-risk areas won’t move due to social, economic, and political barriers? This is the reality of climate (im)mobilities, a challenge deeply affecting the Global South ?? But here’s the problem: over 80% of research on this topic comes from European institutions, missing critical perspectives from the Global South. ?? Join us for a powerful session led by youth changemakers in climate (im)mobilities! Together, we’ll explore evidence-based solutions through decolonial, feminist, and environmentally just approaches. ??? Speakers: ??? Lauren Grant, Beyond Climate Collaborative ??? Italo Ribeiro Alves, PhD Student & UNICEF M&E Specialist ??? Rabeb Aloui, YOUNGO Climate Migration Working Group ??? Crispus Mwemaho, Abayuuti Climate Action Network WHEN: Tuesday, Nov 19th @ 3PM WHERE: Youth House, Green Zone, COP29 in Baku ???? ?? Let’s rewrite the narrative together!
