60-80% of women don't get regular breast cancer screenings, despite early detection being critical for survival rates. A new study highlights why: traditional screening programs face significant challenges with accessibility, false positives (up to 30%), and the complexity of comparing previous exam results. For employers and benefits professionals, this presents a crucial workplace health challenge - especially considering that breast cancer treatment costs an average of $350,000 when caught in later stages. The good news? Technology is evolving to address these barriers. At Bexa, we're proud to be part of this evolution with our FDA-cleared screening technology that delivers immediate results while reducing false positives. https://lnkd.in/gndsp4en

With the rising rates of breast cancer in younger women, the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force is now advising screenings start at 40 instead of 50 - yet 60% of women still aren't getting screened at prescribed times. To help close this gap, the government has proposed a new Act to eliminate financial barriers for diagnostic testing (which is fantastic!), but we're seeing that accessibility and convenience remain major hurdles, especially for working women juggling busy schedules. At Bexa, we're witnessing firsthand how bringing screenings directly to workplaces can bridge this critical gap - in fact, our data shows that on-site screenings can increase participation rates by over 40% compared to traditional approaches. The landscape of early detection is evolving, and as benefits professionals, we have a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of this transformation, ensuring that life-saving screenings are not just affordable but truly accessible to all women in our workforce. https://lnkd.in/gqAE6swn

Did you know that approximately 40% of women over 40 have dense breast tissue, making traditional screening methods less effective at detecting potential concerns? Dense breast tissue can make it 2-3 times more likely for women to develop breast cancer, yet this same density often masks abnormalities on traditional mammograms. This creates a significant challenge for employers and benefits managers: while breast cancer screenings are covered under the ACA, many women – particularly those with dense tissue – may require additional diagnostic testing that falls under deductibles, leading to delayed detection and higher eventual costs. That's why forward-thinking employers are exploring innovative screening technologies like Bexa that can effectively examine dense breast tissue, helping to ensure all women have access to accurate, early detection regardless of their breast composition. https://lnkd.in/gYrTqmGT

3 in 4 employers are struggling with rising healthcare costs impacting employee wages and benefits, with many anticipating further cost-shifting to their workforce. What's encouraging is that forward-thinking employers are increasingly focused on preventative strategies - 45% are prioritizing enhanced screening measures for early detection, recognizing that catching health issues early can significantly reduce both human and financial costs. At Bexa, I've seen firsthand how early detection initiatives, particularly in breast health, can transform outcomes - for context, the average treatment cost for late-stage breast cancer exceeds $350,000, while early detection can reduce treatment costs by up to 30%. It's inspiring to see employers embracing proactive approaches to employee health while tackling the complex challenge of healthcare affordability. https://lnkd.in/gadmmwpV

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" A recent article highlighting that only 8.5% of adults receive all recommended preventive screenings is a telling reminder of how far we have to go in helping people catch health concerns before they get worse. The barriers are clear: ?? hidden fees (1 in 4 get unexpected bills for "free" preventive care) ?? access and transportation challenges ?? fear of follow-up costs deter employees from essential screenings Innovative employers are tackling this head-on by bringing screenings directly to the workplace, particularly for conditions like breast cancer where early detection can: ?? improve health outcomes ?? reduce costs ?? provide peace of mind. As a representative of Bexa, I'm proud to be part of a revolution in preventive care that's making early detection more accessible, convenient, and cost-effective for all employees. https://lnkd.in/gfhsxqi5

The FDA's new mammogram reporting rule marks a crucial step forward, but it also highlights a troubling statistic: 50% of women have dense breast tissue and about 60% aren't getting breast screenings at prescribed times. For employers and benefits leaders, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity to rethink early detection strategies. Bexa's innovative technology is transforming accessibility and accuracy, especially for women with dense breast tissue. It's truly been rewarding to see our employer clients and their wellbeing consultants embrace a more proactive approach to women's health, bringing advanced screening technologies directly to the workplace and removing traditional barriers to early detection. https://lnkd.in/gN494eMh #earlydetection #breastcancer #riskmitigation #healthequity

A compelling new study shows how social determinants of health drive healthcare costs, with medical discrimination leading to $2,600 higher annual insurance costs, and social isolation significantly increasing healthcare expenditures. ?? These findings are especially concerning for women's health: women of color and those from underserved communities are twice as likely to die from breast cancer - cancers that, if detected early, are highly survivable. This is why the Bexa Equity Alliance works with partners across the country to provide free breast exams to women in economically disadvantaged communities, while Bexa's workplace program brings early detection directly to employees. Breaking down barriers to preventive care isn't just about controlling healthcare costs - it's about saving lives through early detection and ensuring every woman has access to potentially life-saving screenings, regardless of their circumstances. https://lnkd.in/dvTSD-vk
