So inspired to have participated in the United for Health Equity in Aging Summit sponsored by The SCAN Foundation. The Summit emphasized the crucial need to uphold every older adult's right to age with dignity and respect. Inspired by their efforts, we at BetterAge remain steadfast in our commitment to use data to identify disparities and create positive change in communities. #HealthEquity #CommunityEmpowerment

We, like senior centers, can be influencers for health and well-being, notes BetterAge Chief Immersion Officer, Ron Kaiser, Ph.D.: Now that several thousand older adults have taken our health and well-being assessment through our partnership with senior centers, I am happy to report some relevant data as well as invite you to share information and thoughts that can be helpful to us. Since my role includes being in charge of the empathy strategy that permeates all that BetterAge does, I was interested in why people take the 7-10 minutes to complete the assessment – so we started asking them. Obviously, we hope that a prominent reason is because they are seeking guidance to improve their health and well-being. While that is a strong reason, the prevailing reason that individuals have taken the assessment so far is because their senior center encouraged them to do so. Sure, part of that is by design, but it’s still very encouraging because it suggests that if an organization has a rapport with its membership, it can be a great influence in health promotion and presumably other well-being-related activities. Sometimes we may wonder how much influence we may have over promoting healthy behavior change, and our work suggests that the influence could be considerable. The challenge for us all is to determine how we can become better influencers of older adults, and then to use our influence in a positive and empathic manner. #betterage #agetech #olderadultwellbeing
