??Over the past few years, Better World Group has supported the Salton Sea Management Program (SSMP) through the development of the SSMP and Community Needs Report and the Salton Sea Community Needs and Recommended Actions Report. We had the opportunity to learn from community members, CBOs, and local Tribes to identify pathways toward climate stability and environmental justice at the Salton Sea, and have developed actionable recommendations for essential infrastructure, programming, and investments to benefit shoreline communities. This year’s summit will focus on local, state, and federal clean energy goals and development, advancing clean transportation, and managing water resources. In addition, the LABC Institute will release a study with the USC METRANS Transportation Consortium which evaluates the timing and size of a new clean truck market created by the California’s Advanced Clean Fleets rule. The rule sets a target of 100 percent zero-emission trucks (medium- and heavy-duty) in the state by 2045 and 100 percent zero-emission drayage trucks by 2035. These ambitious targets will position California as the national leader in zero-emission goods movement. The results of the study will be shared and discussed during the Summit.
