This one probably has more takeaways of what not to do, rather than what to do! But BrandonToksMovies and his brother Ben do a great job uncovering some takeaways for our audience from the movie Battle Royale! https://lnkd.in/gfbuTX7r Kevin Stoller, A4LE-Association for Learning Environments, EDmarket, Second Class Foundation, Education Leaders' Organization, Catalyst @ Penn GSE, Kay-Twelve #BattleRoyale #BrandonToksMovies #BetterLearning #BeTheChange

I never thought I’d get to call this “work.” The other day, I was recording a podcast, laughing like a kid as we dove into a conversation about Summer School, the 80's classic with Mark Harmon. It hit me: I’m literally living my childhood dream of talking about movies (specifically school-related movies) for a living. When we started The Better Learning Podcast, the goal was simple: create a space to share ideas and stories about improving education. But along the way, it’s become so much more than that. It’s a platform to nerd out about the things that shaped us, like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and his legendary ability to “work the system” 9 times. NINE times. Every time I hit “record,” I feel like a kid who just got permission to watch movies in class. (You know, the rare days when it seemed like the teacher just needed a break.) And the best part? These conversations aren’t just for fun—they’re sparking ideas and inspiring people to rethink what’s possible in education. So, if you’re into schools, storytelling, or just love reminiscing about classic movies like I do, give the podcast a listen. Who knows? Maybe The Breakfast Club will be the inspiration to changing up the status quo in education. What’s your favorite school-related movie, and why? Drop it below—we're always looking for ideas for future episodes. #TheBetterLearningPodcast #SchoolNostalgia #FerrisBueller #EducationMatters #RadicallyStudentCentered? #SummerSchool

This week's episode we breakdown the film, Radio! Radio is a powerful example of why being different doesn’t mean being wrong—and how society often struggles with that distinction. Throughout the movie, we see resistance from parents, students, and even school officials who believe that including him is a distraction or a mistake. But as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that their fears are unfounded. Radio brings joy, positivity, and a sense of unity to the school. He encourages us to rethink our biases and embrace people for who they are, not just for how they compare to societal norms. If you had to sum up Radio in one powerful lesson, what would it be?
