On Friday, my team and I attended the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) Meet & Lease Housing Fair. This event brought together landlords with available units and over 500 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) holders, highlighting the importance of creating opportunities for safe, affordable housing in Richmond. At Better Housing Coalition (BHC), we were proud to be front and center, supporting residents and contributing to RRHA's mission of bridging the gap between landlords and tenants. Events like these are critical in addressing the city's affordable housing crisis and ensuring more individuals and families have a place to call home. Thank you to RRHA for organizing this event and to all the participants working toward a more equitable housing future!

This week, we partnered with The Underground Kitchen to provide residents with holiday meals across ten properties. ?? These meals were more than just food—they represented warmth, community, and connection, making a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents. ?? Thank you to the volunteers from our community partners, board/committee members, and staff, who made this event a success. From setting up the meals, serving, packaging leftovers, and delivering to residents who couldn’t attend, your help was the heart of this initiative. Together, we shared warmth and holiday cheer with our residents! ?

Dr. Patricia Bonwell from the Virginia Geriatric Education Center and Richard Roadcap, DDS, recently visited Monarch Woods to offer free dental screenings and dental health education for residents aged 65 and older. They also provided referrals to Lucy Corr Dental Clinic, connecting residents in need of dental care with no-cost services if they’re not currently seeing a dental provider. This collaboration between the VCU Virginia Geriatric Education Center, Dr. Roadcap, and community providers like Lucy Corr is vital in bringing essential dental care to seniors with limited income, no private dental insurance, and restricted access to dental services.
