  • Engineering Without the Fear of Math? Let’s Talk. When most people hear "engineering," they immediately think of complex math—and honestly, they’re not wrong when it comes to traditional schooling. But here’s a secret: in the workplace, most of the math engineers use boils down to basic multiplication and algebra. If you are discouraged by the math in engineering, let us help you break the belief you need to be an expert in Calculus to have a successful engineering career. In our Electrical Engineering Bootcamp, we focus on what is actually used in the workplace. We cover the equations that are used on the daily, and how to apply them in real-world scenarios. We cover basic theory like what actually is Voltage, Amperage, and Power, but then we get right into using these calculations to make sure our mechanical equipment isn't overloading our power system. If you're ready to launch your engineering career, sign up for our January Cohort of the Electrical Engineering Bootcamp and watch how math turns from something intimidating into something that creates awesome buildings.

Training New Engineers in Revit Electrical Design. Get Hired Faster, Work Smarter in the MEP industry.

I almost quit engineering because of Taylor series. In school, I failed Calculus 2. The second time around I failed the first midterm. I remember getting back that grade and thinking “If this is what engineering is, maybe I don’t belong here.” But here’s the thing they don’t tell you in school: the math you need in industry isn’t that hard. In my career as an electrical engineer, the “hardest” math I’ve ever had to use is calculating three-phase power. Simple, straightforward equations that get the job done. What’s actually hard in the industry is knowing how to apply the basics in a practical, real-world context—something college rarely teaches. I know I’m not alone in feeling discouraged by the academic side of engineering. If you’ve ever doubted yourself because of grades or struggled to grasp advanced math concepts, here’s what I’ve learned: ?? Your grades don’t define your potential. ?? Growth happens through practical application. ?? You don’t need to master Taylor series to succeed. At BETI, we focus on bridging the gap between theory and practice. We teach you the skills you’ll actually use on the job—like mastering Revit, understanding electrical design, and applying foundational math to solve real-world problems. If you’re questioning whether you’re “cut out” for this industry, let me tell you: you absolutely are. Don’t let college discourage you from pursuing the career you want. What’s been your experience with the transition from school to industry? Let me know below, or feel free to reach out—I’d love to hear your story.

Training New Engineers in Revit Electrical Design. Get Hired Faster, Work Smarter in the MEP industry.

"I don’t know what I’m doing, and I’m scared of losing my job." When I read these words from a young engineer online, it hit close to home. Early in my career, I felt the exact same way—overwhelmed, behind on deadlines, and constantly asking myself if I was cut out for this field. Let’s be honest—starting out in engineering is rough. It’s a lot of "I have no idea what I’m doing" moments, but that’s part of the process. Here’s what I shared with them: 1?? It’s okay to ask for help. Let your manager know you’re struggling. Early in my career, when I finally told my manager I couldn’t keep up, it changed everything. A good manager will want to help you succeed—not struggle alone at your desk. 2?? Leverage your peers. The colleague who helps you? Let them know how much you appreciate it. And if you feel like you’re asking too much, open the conversation: “Please let me know if my questions are too frequent, and I’ll find other resources. I really value your input.” 3?? You’re not expected to know it all. Less than a year into your career, you’re still learning. Tasks taking longer than expected? That’s normal. It doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’re growing. Finally, skills like Revit and electrical design take time to master. When I transitioned from CAD to Revit, it was a steep learning curve. But it gets easier with the right training and support. If you’re feeling stuck in your engineering journey, consider investing in yourself. Many firms even sponsor technical training for their employees. Our BETI Electrical Engineering Bootcamp is tailored for engineers like you, blending Revit and commercial electrical design training with mentorship to help you thrive. ?? Let’s connect—your growth is my mission. Check out the program here: https://www.betibuilt.com/ What was your biggest struggle as a new engineer? Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments

Training New Engineers in Revit Electrical Design. Get Hired Faster, Work Smarter in the MEP industry.

I’ll never forget the day I asked this in a room full of electrical engineers: “If the load on a 20A circuit is over 1920VA, isn’t it overloaded?” It was about six months into my career. Someone told me "The panel was 480V" and expected me to know why that made it okay. I had no idea why—and I felt like an idiot. Even though I had taken a course on electrical fundamentals in college, we never covered things like panelboards or how they fit into the bigger picture of construction documents. I sat down with Ralph (an amazing mentor) for an hour to get it all explained. Looking back, I can still feel how underprepared I was—and the concern my manager had about my ability. Eventually, they moved my desk next to another mentor, Dave, to help me catch up and avoid bigger mistakes (like the time I almost submitted a project without any lighting controls!). With great mentorship, I finally began to understand the purpose of construction documents and my role as an electrical engineer. It wasn’t about just adding numbers or words to a plan—it was about why they mattered. But here’s the thing: these concepts aren’t hard. What’s hard is knowing what questions to ask when you’re just starting out. That’s why at BETI, we’ve created a 4-week bootcamp designed to help aspiring engineers bridge this gap. From electrical fundamentals, to the workflow and purpose behind creating construction documents in Revit, we give new engineers the tools they need to start their careers with confidence. Instead of just learning the software buttons, students learn how to design with an engineer’s mindset, integrating building codes and industry best practices. When you first started in engineering, did you have a formal training program to guide you—or were you thrown into the deep end with a "learn as you go" approach?

Training New Engineers in Revit Electrical Design. Get Hired Faster, Work Smarter in the MEP industry.

Think the end of the year is the worst time to find an engineering job? Think again. This is the best time to prepare for success in the MEP industry. With December graduates entering the market and firms gearing up for 2025, hiring managers are actively building their teams. Here’s 3 ways you can get ahead before January: 1. Define your ideal role and projects. What types of buildings excite you? Schools? Hospitals? Skyscrapers? Where do you want to work—locally, remotely, or somewhere new? Once you have a clear picture, use LinkedIn’s job search tools to look up roles that match your goals. Aim to create a list of 15-20 engineering firms that work on the types of projects you want to design. 2. Tailor your resume using LinkedIn job postings. Analyze job postings at your target companies and identify the skills, software tools (like Revit or AutoCAD), and even soft skills that are frequently mentioned. Do you already have these skills? Highlight them on your resume using the same language as the job posting. Missing a key skill? Take this time to upskill. Training programs like our BETI Bootcamp can give you the certifications and confidence you need to stand out. 3. Sharpen your skills and build confidence. If you’re struggling to add relevant skills and experience to your resume, BETI is here to help. In less than 4 weeks, we provide students with: ? Autodesk certification ? Software licenses for Revit and AutoCAD ? Mentorship from licensed Professional Engineers ? Commercial electrical design experience ? Resumes that stand out to hiring managers Pro Tip: Connect with hiring managers and recruiters on LinkedIn to plant the seed for future conversations. The end of the year is the perfect time to reflect, refocus, and take small steps toward your goals. Are you searching for your first engineering job in 2025? Let me know—I’d love to hear about your journey and help however I can!
