Recently, at the BIDMC Sustainability Summit, we celebrated our progress and commitment to fostering a sustainable future, recognized this year's Jane Matlaw Environmental Champion awardees, and looked to the future with insights from keynote speaker Melissa Hoffer, Massachusetts' first-ever Climate Chief. Earlier in the week, the Environmental Sustainability Committee and GME program hosted the Doctoral Sustainability & Climate Lunch-and-Learn, bringing together residents, physicians, and post-docs to highlight sustainability and climate-related research, projects, and opportunities at BIDMC.

BIDMC is proud to sponsor GreenRoots, Inc. Freight Farm?, which will grow fresh produce and make it available to Chelsea residents and area agencies working to combat food insecurity.

BIDMC had a strong showing at the 2024 American Heart Association (AHA) Boston Heart Walk recently, celebrating our fourth consecutive victory in the Industry Cup Hospital Fundraising Challenge and rallying nearly 200 walkers! The day kicked off with a special appearance by former Boston Red Sox pitcher and NESN Analyst Lenny DiNardo, who met fans at the BIDMC tent. Our walkers included some of our incredible patients and their families. One participant, Kieran Guinan, who received a heart transplant at BIDMC last fall, shared, “Since my surgery, I’ve been trying to pay back the gift I received, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity. I wasn't sure I could do it when I signed up, but it served as a milestone. Finishing the walk was an accomplishment.” A big congratulations to Kieran, who was one of our top fundraisers, and heartfelt thanks to all our walkers. We are proud to sponsor the event and partner with the AHA to help people live longer, healthier lives.
