This week marks 33 years since Nancy Oriol, MD, Associate Dean for Community Engagement at Harvard Medical School and a long-time faculty member of our BIDMC Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, co-created the Family Van — a mobile health clinic designed to address health disparities and provide primary care and preventive services to underserved communities in the Boston area. Dr. Oriol’s vision for the Family Van began in partnership with local communities, and BIDMC was there from the start, offering crucial funding and support in those early years. We're proud to have played a role in bringing this transformative program to life, which continues to serve as a critical resource for Boston’s most vulnerable populations. Congratulations to Dr. Oriol and the entire Family Van team for 33 years of dedicated service! We look forward to many more years of care and commitment to improving the health of our community.
