关于我们

Betances Health Center (Betances) is a federally qualified health center located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Our mission is to promote quality health care as a basic right for all, regardless of ability to pay. Since 1970, Betances has emerged as a leader in community based primary care serving over 5,000 underserved patients each year. Betances’ pioneering strategy of integrated care, merging traditional Western medicine and specialty services with holistic treatments consonant with diverse health care beliefs and practices directly responds to a prevalence of serious health risks such as impaired childhood development, teen pregnancy, and chronic disease, which result from inner city poverty and insufficient access to primary care. Betances offers quality culturally sensitive care in the following areas: primary care (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, HIV/AIDS care, family planning, social services, HIV testing & counseling, PEP & PREP); Specialty care (Prenatal care, Women’s Health care, Podiatry with acupuncture, & dental); and Complementary services (Nutritional care, Meditative therapies, Patient support groups, Case management, & a Discount prescription drug program). In addition, Betances offers assistance with obtaining health insurance as well as sliding fee discounts based on individual income levels. Betances is currently expanding its quality services into Bushwick Brooklyn as it continues to expand on the Lower East Side. Betances Health Center is an all-inclusive medical provider proud to serve everyone who comes through our doors.

  • Our BHC team participated in Advocacy Day alongside other community health centers in Albany! We engaged in discussions about critical policies that can significantly improve the lives of our patients and staff. Some of the key policies included: - Fair reimbursement rates for telehealth services to ensure accessible care for all patients. - Granting medical assistants the authority to vaccinate patients under the supervision of a provider. - Increasing the base rate for Medicaid reimbursement, which has not changed in 26 years. - Boosting investment for managed care providers. We are glad to be part of this movement and hope to continue the fight for accessible care for all. Thank you to our team of staff and community health centers for all your hard work!

  • Over 70 million Americans rely on Medicaid to access vital primary care services and other care, but Congress is considering a $2.3 trillion cut to the program. These cuts would risk access to lifesaving care and result in higher costs and worse health outcomes. Tell Congress to stop cuts and protect critical care for those who need it the most. Please call your member of Congress using this call-in number: 866-426-2631 to urge them to protect Medicaid?and other health care programs that keep people healthy in the budget reconciliation process. https://lnkd.in/e9QqAEau

  • Did you know we recently launched our Optometry Vision Program in our 280 Henry Street location? By integrating more services in a team-based and holistic care setting we are more equipped to serve our community's needs. Patients now have easier access to: - Optometry care - Primary care - And more specialties! This program can especially help our patients with diabetes, as they may be at higher risk of eye diseases like retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts. Early detection and treatment can prevent over 90% of diabetes-related vision loss.

  • Our World AIDS Breaking the Stigma Celebration was a success! We want to recognize the P4C team for hosting this year’s World AIDS Day Candlelight and celebration. These events were meant to remember those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS and in solidarity with those who continue to fight. It is great seeing our community get together to perform and speak to raise awareness of the ongoing global battle against HIV/AIDS. We would also like to thank participants and organizations that helped this event come to fruition! Stay tuned for the 2025 calendar!
