Hello, friends of Beta Boom! ?? Last month, we brought our teams together in the Bay Area for our Founder Summit. The week included an investor-LP dinner and a startup roadshow with some of our very favorite investor friends. It was a glorious time!! All Beta Boomers, including Kimmy and me, stayed in an AirBnB in Pacifica, as per Beta Boom tradition. For many of us, it was the first time we saw each other in person. It gave us plenty of time to strengthen our connections, brainstorm, share ideas, and even cry on each other's shoulders. We also brought our teams on a roadshow across the entire Bay Area–from San Francisco, to East Bay, to the Peninsula. Our teams met with super cool investors, who gave them feedback and advice on their businesses. ?? Canopie closed our latest round, totaling $3.7 million in seed funding to expand access to critical services for the thousands of expecting mothers we reach every year! ?? Our round was co-led by Beta Boom and Aeroflow Health and includes Sorenson Impact, Luminary Impact Fund, Symphonic Capital, Techstars, and a family office supporting the expansion of mental health care through technology. These investors are mission-aligned while bringing critical operational, growth, and sector expertise to Canopie, focusing on maternal health, mental health, SaaS, and social impact. We are looking forward to using these resources to expand personalized, virtual mental health care covered by insurance and bolstering our solution to address social drivers of health (SDoH) for moms across all levels of risk in the United States. Preventive care is the best medicine for expecting mothers, and we are honored to contribute to that effort with our incredible partners. In January 2024, we launched a Food as Medicine (FIM) pilot program UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas serving over 500 pregnant people with access to groceries, produce, and nutrition coaching for six months. With ~282,000 households categorized as ‘food insecure’, development of nutrition resources is essential to improving maternal and infant health outcomes. “We brought together a team on the ground including Case Management, the Health Forward Foundation, Altruism Media, Inc. (a community based maternal health organization), and the Center for Community Health Evaluation (Kaiser Permanente) to ensure pregnant people and their infants have access to food and nutrition care. Further collaboration is critical to build the evidence needed through data, patient voices and key stakeholders to drive policy change and expand FIM access”, says Emily Brown, CEO of Attane Health. “We recognize the critical role of nutrition in supporting the health of moms and babies.
