The USDA BioPreferred? Program, open to both US and international companies, requires applicants to verify a product’s biobased carbon content through ASTM D6866 testing by an ISO 17025:2017-accredited third-party lab. Products that meet the requirements can display the USDA Certified Biobased Product Label, helping consumers easily identify sustainable choices. ? The program has identified 139 biobased product categories, each with a designated minimum biobased content percentage, including: ? Cosmetics – 25% ? Disposable Tableware – 72% ? General Purpose Household Cleaners – 39% ? Intermediates - Chemicals – 22% ? Intermediates - Personal Care Product Components – 62% ? Laundry Products - General Purpose – 34% ? Product Packaging – 25% ISO 17025-accredited SGS-Beta is a USDA-approved laboratory, providing precise biobased testing through carbon-14 analysis with results in just 4-7 business days.
