What a day! ?? Eunie’s Buddies hosted its first local social, and it was pure joy. Like finding a village that gets it, while your child has the time of his life!? ? We brought families together in a safe, inclusive space where children with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) could play, explore, and just be kids, while parents and caregivers connected ??? ? Parenting a child with IDD can feel isolating, but community makes all the difference. ?? Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, inclusive living, and family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and other undiagnosed disabilities. Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

Best Buddies would like to welcome the Burgers to our inclusive family. Miami Marlins’ Jake Burger and wife Ashlyn welcome baby no. 2, daughter Penelope who was born with Down syndrome. Upon learning of Penelope’s Down syndrome diagnosis, Ashyln looked at Jake and said, “we’re having a little girl, and she’s going to have Down syndrome.” Jake starred at me as he said “okay, and?” For Jake and Ashlyn, learning of Penelope’s Down syndrome diagnosis became one of their “biggest blessings,” rather than an obstacle to overcome. “Her diagnosis is not what defines her or her life, it’s what makes her who she is, and we wouldn’t want her any other way,” said Ashlyn. The 26th Annual Best Buddies Gala: Miami and Champion of the Year was an unforgettable evening, making a lasting impact on Best Buddies’ mission. ? This exclusive event brought together 850 guests, including influential business leaders, political figures, sports icons, and celebrities, all gathered to support Best Buddies’ life-changing work. The night featured a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, exciting live and silent auctions, and a memorable performance by 50 Cent. We were proud to honor Guy Fieri with the Spirit of Leadership Award. As a Best Buddies Global Ambassador since 2010, Guy has been instrumental in helping raise over $62 million for the mission, as well as empowering people with IDD through the annual "Guy Cooking with Best Buddies" event. Thanks to the generous contributions from this year’s Gala, we continue to create opportunities for friendships, jobs, leadership development, inclusive living, and family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. #BestBuddiesGala
