As a crucial part of the #Oosterweel link, the Scheldt Tunnel will close the Antwerp Ring Road in the north. The tunnel elements are currently being finalised in #Zeebrugge. Later this year, they’ll be transported to Antwerp, submerged, and carefully connected to the riverbanks. ?? Yesterday, the #FOSTER consortium, consisting of BESIX and Indaver, kicked off construction of this state-of-the-art facility, which will recover energy ?? from the wastewater treatment sludge ?? of 4 million residents. ??? Located on the ArcelorMittal premises, works started 4 months ago, with the first phase of the preparatory civil works to be completed next month. The entire construction will be finished in less than 2 years. ?? Together, BESIX and Indaver are responsible for the design, build, financing, and 20-year of operations and maintenance of this advanced plant, which will reduce emissions by 28,000 tonnes CO2-eq. Last Tuesday, BESIX, BESIX Environment N.V. and John Cockerill? proudly launched construction of the project in the presence of Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele! ? The facility will convert renewable electricity from local wind parks into green hydrogen. Starting with a 25 MW capacity, scalable up to 100 MW, it aims to reduce CO? emissions by 25,000 tonnes annually. ??? Lifted into place using the largest crawler crane in the country, each radial truss module weighs around 160 tonnes and is 37 metres tall! ?? The BESIX-MT H?jgaard Danmark teams are making steady progress on the 1.4-kilometre-long cut-and-cover Nordhavn Tunnel, which will improve access to the developing inner and outer Nordhavn areas. ??? With reinforcement works now well underway, the teams have reached a new milestone last week: the bottom slab for the first tunnel segment was successfully cast.
