Besida is an emerging, sustainable, women's clothing brand distinguished by a vibrant Afrocentric flair. We design clothes and accessories for the woman looking to make a powerful statement with her style. Founded in 2015, we've devoted our efforts to creating fashion while building communities in an environmentally conscious way. Our factory in Benin City, Nigeria employs, trains, and empowers local artisans to earn a sustainable living with their craft. Founder and Creative Director, Sophia Danner-Okotie created Besida after getting frustrated with trying to find clothes in America that represented her identity as a Black woman. She returned back to her hometown, Benin City, and partnered with tailors to produce collections for consumers abroad. Half a decade later, Besida garments are worn by thousands of women throughout the globe. Our magazine features include Vogue, Essence, and Forbes, where Sophia was named a "Forbes 30 under 30" Class of 2021 Honoree.
