Driven by the soaring demand from artists, record labels, and music lovers, recently a new production line was commissioned at the Sonopress Gütersloh facility. And that's not all – further expansion is planned for the coming months! "Eco Records" represent a significant leap forward in sustainable music production. Made with recycled PET instead of PVC, these LPs require no natural gas or steam during manufacturing, resulting in up to an 85% reduction in environmental impact compared to traditional vinyl. From the first order for Warner Music Group nine months ago (Liam Gallagher & John Squire's collaborative album), there has been consistent growth, partnering with artists like Ed Sheeran and Coldplay – who even debuted their new album "Moon Music" exclusively as an "Eco Record," showcasing the world's first use of recycled PET for mass-produced LPs!?? Sven Deutschmann, Managing Director of Sonopress, is delighted with the success of the climate-friendly LPs: “The topic of sustainability is increasingly becoming the focus of the music industry, and we are responding to the great interest of artists, labels and music lovers in environmentally friendly products with our range. In order to meet the continuously increasing demand for the 'Eco Record', we have now expanded our production capacities at the Gütersloh site and are planning to expand our machinery again in the coming months.” According to Deutschmann, the company is currently able to produce up to two million PET sheets per year. Bertelsmann achieved revenues of €13.4 billion after nine months of 2024, with 3.1% organic growth. Investments of €1.5 billion were made into the Boost strategy. Despite the sale of Majorel in 2023, key businesses including Penguin Random House, BMG, Arvato, and Bertelsmann Education Group drove strong performance. CEO Thomas Rabe stated, "Our positioning across a broad range of businesses is increasingly paying off." Highlights include growth in streaming at RTL, bestselling titles at Penguin Random House, and dynamic developments at Arvato. Bertelsmann Investments also made 43 new and follow-on investments. For the full year 2024, Bertelsmann expects overall positive business performance with improved earnings.
