What started as a playful TikTok account supplementing our lipstick company as two literal lipstick lesbian founders of FEMPOWER BEAUTY, ended up an education centric platform that truly honored beauty—beyond the marketing gimmicks, beyond the noise—every piece of content was done with love, intention, and the unwavering belief, fueled by my wife Christina Basias, Ph.D., that education and empowerment for community should come first. We would have never expected that we would have a global community of over 1.7 million followers to date, meet so many incredible inspirational beauty heroes, and be celebrated by so many. And now, seeing our story told by Forbes? That’s surreal. In this full circle moment, the journey of Lipstick Lesbians has never been just about lipstick after all. It's SO much bigger than that. It’s about rewriting the rules of beauty. It’s about transparency, community, and proving that knowledge is power. It’s about fighting for a space where beauty isn’t dictated to you—it’s created WITH you and to EMPOWER you to make your own decisions. And that is what we call beauty literacy. Ultimately, what we see is the final produce. But beauty isn’t just what’s in the bottle—it’s in the people who use it, the hands that craft it, the truth behind it, and the intention of what it was made for, which has gotten lost and confusing for beauty lovers all ver the world in our oversaturated market of products.
