A Cooper's Hawk that got stuck in Building 77 Mechanical Fabrication Shop at Berkeley Lab has been safely released back into the wild! After being rescued by Bay Raptor Rescue and spending a few days recovering at Lindsay Wildlife Experience, the hawk was returned to the Lab and set free. Meet one of the talented minds joining Berkeley Lab's Engineering Division, Matthew Senesky. With 20 years of industry?experience,?Matthew will be working on the DUNE-ND project, designing electrical systems that are pushing the boundaries?of innovation. Outside of the lab, you can find Matthew working on DIY projects, listening to history podcasts, cooking, and playing guitar. A multidisciplinary team from Berkeley Lab's ATAP and Engineering Divisions are supplying essential components to the high-energy upgrade of SLAC’s Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS-II). The Engineering Division celebrated a historic moment by signing the final structural beam of Collaboration Commons, Berkeley Lab’s newest facility! Exciting progress at Berkeley Lab! A team from the Accelerator Technology & Applied Physics (ATAP) and Engineering Divisions has successfully assembled and tested 11 of the 20 new superconducting magnets destined for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s most powerful particle accelerator. This work supports the High Luminosity LHC Accelerator Upgrade Project, which aims to increase the luminosity of the LHC significantly.
