Early in January, we gathered together in Washington, DC, to celebrate the BZD’s 12th birthday and see more than a dozen clients sworn-in for the 119th Congress. We continue to be honored to make an impact doing the work we love, and we are proud of the performance of our entire team this past cycle. We defended all of our congressional incumbents, won critical open seat races, and unseated Republicans in Congress and state legislatures. Some highlights include Derek Tran’s unexpected 653-vote victory in CA-45, wins in two of the biggest open California Assembly seats for Rhodesia Ransom and Robert Garcia, multiple pickups in the Wisconsin Assembly, defending the majority in the Pennsylvania House, holding seats in the Michigan House and Kansas State Senate, unseating an incumbent Republican in the Connecticut State Senate, and dozens of other races from school board to Congress in 26 states and Washington, DC. BZD’s creative made a difference in all of these wins, whether they were powerful pieces on abortion rights, eye-catching concepts on costs, or illustrative negatives with simulated text message exchanges. We even wrote and designed a Dr. Seuss-inspired storybook and rewrote Ice Ice Baby for a mail piece. We mailed over 25 million total pieces, each one delivering an impactful message to a key target voter. Thank you to all the amazing campaign staff, talented consultants, and outstanding candidates with whom we worked. BZD’s campaign team spent an average of 96 hours per week on Zoom or Google Meet for weekly team calls, and we’re prepared for more. As the 2nd round of Trump begins, our team is prepared to fight back as we did in 2017 and 2018 when we helped take back Congress and legislative chambers. Elections have consequences and millions of Americans will suffer with MAGA loyalists running Washington, DC. To bring back some accountability and stop the suffering, 2026 is a must-win year. We are ready to start the first step by winning in Virginia and beyond this year, and then win majorities in state legislatures and take back Congress in 2026. Let’s get to work.
