  • Fund choices drive a very small percentage of the ultimate returns earned by investors but receive about 90% or more of the attention. And they're a distraction from what actually matters. Purpose -> Plan -> Portfolio That's the correct order of deserved attention.

  • ??? Make Your Vision Great Again ??? Why did Donald Trump win? Because he had a clear, simple, unforgettable message. "Make America Great Again." ? Four words. ? Self-explanatory. ? Memorable. ? Actionable. Now, contrast that with Kamala Harris. What was her slogan? …Exactly. She had multiple: ? “Let’s Win This.” ? “We’re Not Going Back.” ? “A New Way Forward.” ? “Save Democracy.” A scattered message is a forgotten message. As Donald Miller says “You confuse you loose!” ?? What This Means for You Your message needs to be crystal clear. If people can’t repeat it, they won’t remember it.   • This picture will be etched into my mind forever….I look at it and this song starts to play in my head..” this will be the day the music died.” This picture was taken at our monthly FPA- Pittsburgh Chapter meeting. I had just presented to the chapter on LinkedIn best practices. We were all happy and cheerful and had no idea the world we were about to walk into. In that 4-hour span between our meeting and board meeting, the whole world had changed. I looked at my phone to find over 50 text messages, 25 missed calls, 10 voicemails and so many alerts I didn’t bother to count them. Things had started moving at lightning speed! The large conference my firm was sponsoring the next day had been canceled, multiple sports leagues canceled games, one of the largest churches in the United States had canceled their Sunday in-person worship service, all in just hours. I left that meeting with na?ve enthusiasm and optimism to walk into a world that had changed. As I look back and reflect there are so many lessons, I learned but if I had to pick one is that paradigms shift fast in today’s world.
