#AlumniSpotlight ??#ShiningBright “Crisis is the lightning in a bottle, a dynamic radio personality who captivates his audiences on the airwaves!” Meet Chris Avent, also known as Crisis, a 2016 graduate of Ohio Media School who enrolled to advance his broadcasting career. Currently shining as an on-air radio personality at Urban One, Inc’s Z1079 Cleveland, Chris holds the airwaves every weekend from 1am - 6am and Sundays from 7pm-11pm. With a love for radio, Chris is goal-driven to become the night shift personality. As an engaged alumni of Ohio Media School, he also served as an Instruction Assistant, mentoring students to refine their media skills. Originally from Akron, Ohio, Crisis has the mindset of a blue collar underdog and he speaks for the people. From his witty takes to his impact he has on the community, Crisis is absolutely unique. He gives nothing but 110% on The After Party every Sunday night from 1am-6am. Crisis also spends his free time hosting some of the hottest events throughout the Midwest area. Inspired by icons like Big Tigger and Martin Payne, Chris encourages aspiring broadcasters to stay dedicated to their goals with endurance in mind. Despite a successful 36-year IT career at Parker Hannifin Corp., Mark's heart always yearned for filmmaking, leading him to retire and pursue his creative dreams. Mark's technical prowess shines through his use of broadcast-quality equipment and software like Adobe Audition, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Nikon cameras, and more. His talent was recognized with an Emmy nomination in 2020 for "You Raise Me Up," showcasing his ability to blend technical expertise with emotional storytelling even amidst challenges. Not content with personal milestones, Mark dedicates himself to mentoring future filmmakers as a Filmmaking Instructor at West End House Boys & Girls Club. Through the Fresh Films program, he guides students in honing their production skills and creating diverse film projects. Mark's story is not just about professional success but also about family devotion. Married with two children, he continues to cultivate his passions while balancing work as a Senior AV Service Technician at AVI-SPL. With a passion for music production, audio engineering, and photography, Joel uses his tech-savvy skills to bring his artistic vision to life. Currently collaborating with fellow students like Maleek Satchel and GrimmaceMobb, Joel is on a mission to continue learning and sharing his experiences with others. As a music producer, he creates unique beats and audio effects by manipulating sound frequencies and synthesizing organic sounds. Additionally, Joel lends his photography expertise to Blush and Click LLC, covering events like graduations and weddings while providing professional editing services.
