Did you know? Salmon and dams CAN coexist! According to the University of Washington's Data Access in Real Time (DART), more than 1.7 million salmon and steelhead have returned to the Columbia River basin so far in 2024 — 370% more than when the first federal dam went into operation in 1938.

Dams along the Columbia and Snake rivers keep our roads clear and emissions low. Breaching these dams would eliminate barging and force more trucks onto our roads, crowding an already congested transportation system. These added trucks would generate 1.2 million more tons of CO2 and other harmful emissions—equivalent to 181,000 passenger cars or adding one new coal-fired power plant every 2-3 years.
