?? Exciting Milestone for MommaConnect: Advancing?Equity?in?Postpartum?Care ?? ?? We are thrilled to share a significant achievement?in?our journey towards transforming?postpartum?care?for African American/Black (AA/B) women. Our innovative mobile health application, MommaConnect, has been recognized once again, securing us a spot among the winners of the second round of the?HHS?Racial?Equity?in?Postpartum?Care?Challenge! ???? Bridging Gaps?in?Postpartum?Mental Health?Care Postpartum?depression (PPD) affects approximately 15% of all women, posing long-term adverse health outcomes for both mothers and their infants. The disparity is stark among AA/B women, who are twice as likely to experience PPD compared to their White counterparts. Despite the severe outcomes, many AA/B mother-infant dyads face barriers to receiving specialized mental health?care, including stigma, healthcare inequities, and a lack of culturally tailored treatment. ?? Innovative Solutions Through MommaConnect Leveraging the $80K prize from the?Challenge.gov grant, we've made strides?in?culturally tailoring MommaConnect to provide innovative treatment delivery for AA/B women with PPD. Our app delivers a 12-week psychoeducation and intervention program aimed at reducing PPD severity and enhancing mother-infant interaction - a critical mechanism supporting healthy infant development. ?? Significance and Innovation Our work addresses the urgent need for accessible, culturally relevant?care?for AA/B mothers experiencing PPD. By integrating evidence-based therapies within MommaConnect and extending our reach through a mobile platform, we're breaking down barriers to treatment and fostering?healthier?futures for mothers and their children. ?? Looking Ahead The recognition and support from the?HHS?Racial?Equity?in?Postpartum?Care?Challenge?underscore the importance and potential of our work.
