I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the Bennett Hospitality Internship at Hotel Bennett in Charleston, South Carolina. The internship will provide me with a wide array of experiences in the hospitality industry and I am thankful for the support provided by Daire Keogh, Ross Munnelly, Leigh Smalley, MBA and DCU Business School. My fellow interns áine Kerrigan, Catherine King, Luke Henry Drought and myself are excited to be a part of this amazing initiative ??????

Having now concluded my summer of travel, I can now reflect on what amazing time it was. 10 weeks of an unforgettable learning and growth opportunity with Bennett Hospitality, completing their Internship Program through the Hampton Inn by Hilton Historic Charleston, along with the support of Dublin City University, DCU Business School and the College of Charleston I was offered the chance to gain insights in every aspect of hotel management, from sales and development, to housekeeping and maintenance. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and the connections I have made with the people along the way were truly special. This leads me to extend my gratitude to the people who made this journey all possible. The staff of DCU, in particular Ross Munnelly and Daire Keogh. The college of Charleston, in particular the wonderful student ambassadors who showed us the beauty South Carolina had to offer. The team in the Hampton Inn and Hilton members who guided me through every step of the way. Then a special thanks to the Bennett team and the fabulous Leigh Smalley, MBA who went above and beyond in everything she did for us. Finally, I wish my three fellow interns áine Kerrigan, Catherine King and Tom O'Boyle the best of luck in their future endeavours and thanks for sharing such a wonderful time with me!

This summer, I completed a nine week internship with Bennett Hospitality as part of my studies at Dublin City University. During the internship, I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry, working in various roles across the Hotel Bennett team, including guest services and hosting. This hands on experience provided me with deep insight into hotel operations, and I had the chance to connect with many industry professionals. It was a pleasure to work with the welcoming and supportive team at Hotel Bennett. I’d especially like to thank Leigh Smalley, MBA for offering continuous support throughout our time in Charleston. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the College of Charleston for pairing us with wonderful ambassadors — Caroline Orchard, Bethany Brown, Sophie Friend and Mikayla Connor — who welcomed us to the city and their college. I’m excited to be starting my MSc in Management Consultancy at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School!
