?? ?????? ???? ???????????????? ???????????????? ?????? ???? ??????????????? ?? The four-year interdisciplinary research project??????? ???????????? ????????, conducted by the Universit?t Wien and the Technische Universit?t München in collaboration with the Belvedere Museum's Research Center, is breaking new ground in museum studies. Using cutting-edge mobile eye-tracking technology and artificial intelligence, the project examines how visitors interact with artworks in the?real?museum space—not in artificial lab conditions. Key insights from the first study include: ??? Larger artworks attract significantly more attention, while smaller formats are often overlooked—even masterpieces by Van Gogh. ??? Paintings are viewed nearly twice as long as sculptures. ??? Contrasting display choices, such as pairing contemporary and historical artworks, can provoke deeper engagement and reflection. As General Director Stella Rollig notes: "This project could lead to practical applications that enhance art perception and museum experiences, making them even more impactful." #BelvedereMuseum Fotos: Institut für Kunstgeschichte, Karl Pani, René Steyer Heatmap: Tobii Pro Lab

If you’d like to find out more about the faculty paintings and how they were put in the limelight last week in Vienna, watch below ?? ??

? A Reconstruction of Gustav Klimt's ‘Medicine’ Unveiled at MedUni ? Originally created as a faculty painting, destroyed during the Nazi era, and now reconstructed and displayed at MedUni. In collaboration with Google Arts & Culture, we have used artificial intelligence to restore the color of Gustav Klimt's lost faculty painting Medicine. Yesterday, this detailed reproduction was ceremoniously unveiled on the facade of the Anna Spiegel Research Building on the MedUni campus. Vienna's Mayor Michael Ludwig, MedUni Rector Markus Müller, Belvedere General Director Stella Rollig, and curator Franz Smola hailed the project as a significant enhancement to Vienna’s cityscape and a symbol of the close connection between science and art that defines the city. Last Saturday, the symposium????? ???????? ???? ???? ?????? ???????? – ?????????????? ???? ?????????????? ?????????????? took place at the Belvedere 21. Together with artmov, we shed light on the distressing realities faced by artists and activists in Russia who resist political suppression and advocate for freedom of expression. Voices from families and close friends of imprisoned artists shared insights into their struggles, while exiled activists discussed ways of solidarity and resistance from afar. And the conversation isn’t over yet: On November 22, join us for a talk featuring Sasha Skochilenko, who was imprisoned for her artistic protest against the war in Ukraine, alongside her mother and partner. The evening will also feature an unprecedented meeting between Pussy Riot co-founder Nadya Tolokonnikova and philosopher Slavoj ?i?ek, moderated by Stella Rollig.
