Thanks so much for your work Andrew Wallach !
I co-hosted a great evening Monday night on behalf of Belongo (aka The Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance). Founder and 8-time Grammy winner Arturo O’Farrill gave a very memorable private concert. He and our architects also discussed our plans for Casa Belongo, a 300-seat, $42 million performance space which will be located in East Harlem. Groundbreaking is scheduled for next year, and we are in the process of raising about $20 million to fully fund.

Thank you City & State for including me on this list. It is truly an honor to be recognized among so many incredible leaders in the cultural sector but the biggest honor is the opportunity to support our fantastic cultural clients... Apollo Theater, Studio Museum in Harlem, Roundabout Theatre Company, Repertorio Espa?ol, Belongó | Afro Latin Jazz, City Parks Foundation, Children's Museum of Manhattan... just to name a few!
Congratulations to Rose Christ, Co-Chair of #NewYork Public Strategies, for being named in City & State’s inaugural Arts & Culture Power 100! A passionate advocate for #arts and #culture, Rose has been instrumental in securing funding for key initiatives across #NYC, including major projects for the Apollo Theater, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Children's Museum of Manhattan. https://lnkd.in/eWN79x3z

On Friday, September 13th, Belongó and founder Arturo O'Farrill announced the launch of the capital campaign for Casa Belongó, a brick-and-mortar culture hub in East Harlem that fosters community engagement across Greater Harlem, the Upper East Side, and beyond. To celebrate the project launch, Belongó hosted a special reception featuring Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo as the special guest. Notable attendees included Luis Miranda, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, Assemblymember Alex Bores, and representatives from U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat's office. O'Farrill said: "As the birthplace of Afro Latin Jazz, the creative spirit of East Harlem is a perfect representation of our mission: to use music as the entry point for service to the community and to reflect back to that community the beauty and ingenuity of its citizens ...We hope to create a welcoming space where this city's diverse communities can gather together as one family." We extend our gratitude to the Doris Duke Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the Hearst Foundations for attending, with a special thanks to the Howard Gilman Foundation for generously hosting the event. Located on Park Avenue at 118th street in East Harlem, and designed by the renowned architectural firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Casa Belongó will span 20,000 square feet and include a 300+ capacity, state-of-the-art performance space, a café and jazz club, classrooms and meeting areas, and more. #Belongo #Afrolatinjazz #CasaBelongo #EastHarlem #Harlem
