Last month, at our February Young Professionals Networking Social, we had the privilege of hosting a workshop with The Dignity Index, exploring how dignity shows up in our daily conversations—and how it shapes the impact of our community work. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Meaningful change requires us to lead with dignity, respect, and understanding. A special thank you to Representative Jake Fitisemanu Jr for joining us and sharing his insights on the role of dignity in civic engagement! And thank you to PROG Foundation for sponsoring this social! #belonginutah Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs Madeleine Jones PROG Foundation

The Center for Economic Opportunity & Belonging bridges Utah’s communities to foster belonging in several key areas.
关于我们
The Center for Economic Opportunity and Belonging bridges Utah’s communities to foster belonging where it matters most: our education, workforce, housing, and health. By aligning strategic decisions with community wisdom, we are building a Utah where every one of us can contribute our whole selves. Where every student receives a first-rate education. Where every professional can reach a fulfilling career. Where every family can find a dignified place to live. Where every person can get the healthcare they need to thrive. Where every one of our successes expands our collective potential – because each of us belongs. Bridges create belonging. Let’s build them together.

Our history is one of migration. The early pioneers left their homes in search of safety, freedom, and the chance to build a better future for their families. They crossed unfamiliar lands, faced hardship, and relied on the kindness of others to survive and thrive. Today, many immigrant families in Utah walk a similar path—seeking safety, opportunity, and a place to belong. Just as our ancestors needed support on their journey, these families need our help navigating legal challenges that could separate them from their loved ones. By supporting the Immigrant Family Unity Fund, we honor our own history and extend to others the same spirit of resilience, community, and compassion that helped shape Utah. When we stand together, we strengthen not just immigrant families but the very values that define us. For more information and to donate, visit https://hubs.ly/Q03b7XTW0. Every contribution—big or small—helps keep families together and strengthens our community. Join us in reaching our $4,000 goal by the end of the month. Give today and make a difference! New Americans Task Force: Preparing Your Business for Immigration Policy Changes Under a New Administration Our February webinar, featuring Kathleen Weron from Ogletree Deakins, covered key steps for businesses to prepare for evolving federal immigration policies. The presentation focused on compliance strategies, establishing ICE arrival policies, evaluating compliance risk through documentation review, conducting internal audits and I-9 retention, and legal resources for non-compliance. Community partners also shared resources, including Family Preparedness Kits, to support employees and their families. We hope this information and these resources will help you feel better prepared as you navigate the new administration's immigration policy changes.
