The Bellis? Stronger Together program is a national support network for women whose children are parented by others.
关于我们
Founded in 1983, Bellis has 40 years of knowledge gained from experience working within the adoption community as a nonprofit with no political or religious affiliation or agenda. Bellis hears, validates, supports and connects people touched by adoption and foster care. Bellis leads national groundbreaking work offering grief support to mothers whose children are parented by others; we are experts in creating space to talk openly and honestly about it all and the pain of ambiguous loss. Together, we work to fight stigma and offer compassion, hope, and resilience. Bellis is independent of child-placing agencies, child welfare systems and courts. Our services include: - Peer-based, expert-led grief support for women who have lost their parental rights. Our Stronger Together Peer Support Model? is built on the knowledge that empathy — sharing your story with someone who accepts you completely — is transformative. Women join online from across the country. Minnesota participants have access to free limited legal guidance via our partnership with Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Later this year, Bellis will add our fifth weekly group, this one specifically addressing the needs of Indigenous mothers. - Evening of Connection meetings for all who are touched by adoption and foster care. This wide spectrum of experiences brings a sense of commonality that is affirming and encouraging. - Presentations to professional and community-based organizations about our work. Our presentations include details about support and refer women to our services.

?? Starting on October 1st, 2024 ?? Bellis will offer the very first weekly grief support group specifically for fathers whose children are parented by others—whether through adoption, foster care, termination of parental rights, transfer of custody, parental alienation, custody disputes, open child protection cases, or other circumstances. At Bellis, we welcome everyone, regardless of the circumstances surrounding their parenting status. We are eager to apply the knowledge, experience, and expertise we've gained from over three years of hosting grief support groups for mothers to the important support we will now offer to fathers. ?? Do you know someone who could benefit from this resource? Please find information about the online group on our website: https://lnkd.in/gb4wr7-z

We are beyond proud that Jenny Eldredge has been selected as an Angel in Adoption honoree by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute! For 26 years, #AngelsInAdoption has recognized individuals making remarkable contributions to adoption, foster care, and child welfare. Jenny is the perfect recipient, as she passionately advocates for mothers whose children are parented by others. Dear Jenny, thank you for continuing to amplify the voices of mothers whose stories often go unheard. Bellis stands with you in advocating for these courageous women, whose journeys are marked by profound loss but also incredible resilience. It is heartening to know that our leaders are listening and taking action to create lasting change. The opportunity to engage with Senators, Representatives, and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute offers much-needed hope for a brighter, more compassionate future in child welfare, foster care, and adoption. To all mothers whose children are parented by others: You are worth hearing. You are worth healing. And we are #strongertogether.
