?? Monthly #SAFETY Tuesday Training Post 10/01/2024 ?? It’s the first Tuesday of the month, which means it’s time for our SAFETY Tuesday Monthly Training at TEAM BELDON! ?? This month, fall protection took center stage. Given that it’s a key part of our daily operations, this training was especially important. ?? As roofers, we face fall hazards every day, and ensuring our TEAM is equipped with the proper gear and knowledge is critical to keeping everyone safe. We don’t just talk about SAFETY—we live it, and today’s training reinforced our commitment. ?? Luis Quintanar from Q Safety led an in-depth discussion on the A, B, C, and D’s of Fall Protection, covering: ?? Anchorage: the secure point of attachment ??♂? Body Support: through a full-body harness ?? Connectors: like shock-absorbing lanyards or self-retracting lifelines ??? Descent & Rescue: emphasizing the need to safely get an injured worker off a roof The TEAM was fully engaged throughout the session, responding to questions, offering ideas, and discussing site-specific scenarios. ?? A key takeaway was the importance of rescue preparedness—having a solid plan in place can make all the difference when responding to a fall. ?? OSHA emphasizes the need for a prompt rescue in the event of a fall. Our discussion highlighted how important it is to be prepared for immediate response by assessing the situation and using available tools for a safe and swift rescue. ?? To put our training into action, TEAM Members stepped up for a hands-on demonstration of the Sked rescue method. ??♀? One member posed as an injured worker while others followed the instructor's clear directions to secure the rescue straps and tie the appropriate knots. Our volunteer was successfully pulled up and down the aisle, demonstrating how smooth and efficient the process can be. ?? We also practiced a group carry method to safely transport the injured worker, reinforcing the importance of coordination and teamwork in rescue operations. ?? Today’s training was a powerful reminder that fall protection is not just about preventing accidents—it’s about being prepared for prompt rescue in an emergency. ?? ??We’re Fired Up for Friday at TEAM #BELDON! ?? It’s the final Friday of the month which means it’s time for our heatwave hustle with our Monthly Fire & Evacuation Drill! These drills aren’t just about getting out quickly—they’re about knowing the ins and outs of every corner of our facility. Whether in the office or in an unexpected spot like the warehouse, practice makes perfect and helps everyone stay prepared for any scenario. Our #Fire Wardens are always on hand to guide our TEAM, ensuring a smooth and safe exit while keeping an eye out for obstacles. Once the drill is complete and everyone is accounted for at the Assembly Area, we celebrate our success and take a moment to share a helpful safety tip. This month, we turned up the heat with a quick quiz on the P.A.S.S. method for handling a fire extinguisher: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep. It’s a great way to wrap up our Fire #SAFETY Friday in our ongoing commitment to making SAFETY engaging, educational, and at the heart of everything we do.
