We retail through our e-commerce site, Ulta Beauty, our historic Kindness Shop in Sharon Springs, NY, HSN & QVC, and other leading retailers across the country. Founded by Dr. Brent Ridge & Josh Kilmer-Purcell, and inspired by the 200-year-old Beekman Farm, Beekman 1802 JOIN TEAM BEEKMAN Our Headquarters is in Schenectady, NY, where all of our creative, marketing, and sales-related functions are located. We also operate offices and warehouses in Sharon Springs, NY and Orlando, FL. We also have a robust hybrid, remote, and Field team.     The REAL Beekman Founders Story…. Twenty five years ago today (March 15, 2000) an advertising Junior Art Director was sitting at his computer in downtown Manhattan. At the same time, several miles away, a new Resident at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia Hospital was connecting to the internet from his apartment in Washington Heights. Their dial-up paths crossed in a new-ish feature from AOL…something called a “chat room.” Being the only two people in the “room” they struck up a conversation. The doctor explained that he’d just moved to NYC from NC, and the Art Director talked about all the fun he’d discovered in the club scene since moving to Manhattan five years prior. They chatted for hours about their work, their different views on religion, their similar views on politics, their sadness about Matthew Shepard, and their dreams of world travel. The ad guy kept pestering the doctor to go out on a date with him. The doctor was a bit leery, having never gone on a date with a man before. And certainly not with a hard-partying, part-time drag queen. “Maybe later,” he kept demurring. So the ad guy became the world’s first internet stalker. “Do you walk to the hospital for work?” he casually dropped into the chat. “Which street do you take?” “How many blocks is it?” “What is your work schedule?” Eventually the ad guy covertly pinpointed exactly where the doctor must live. And as the doctor started to explain that he had to log off now to get some sleep, the ad guy left him with one final chat post: “Have a good night, Doctor. Oh, by the way, I’m going to be at the 168th St subway stop by your apartment tomorrow night at 8pm. And you’re either going to be there or you’re not.” He was. They went for Chinese food. And they’ve had Chinese food every March 15th for the next 25 years. We didn’t start a company together until 8 years later. But whenever anyone asks us what the most important lesson we’ve learned about entrepreneurship, or a successful relationship, or life in general, we say pretty much the same thing: Just show up.

During the conversation Patrick shared the vision behind Sephora’s store revamp strategy, brand evolution, and getting into the kitchen with founders.
