On set you'll find me with a surveillance in my ear directly connected to Michelle in video village, crafty, or at the nearest wine bar - wherever our clients are. We've found this immediate feedback loop between you, producer and director is extremely efficient. When I'm up there juggling actors, angles and a double espresso, I love hearing - real time - what you like, what you want to try and when we've nailed it . That's the info I need to keep moving. We didn’t storm the beaches on D-Day, crisscross America on assignment for Life Magazine or travel to Russia with John Steinbeck, no, we are quite lame in comparison to legendary photographer Robert Capa. But we do heed his advice every time we are behind the camera. Especially working with real people. We get in close to the action - physically, and hopefully emotionally. We do everything we can to make an authentic connection through the questions we ask and the images we capture. Capa’s life story is incredibly inspiring (well worthy of a feature doc……). Tired of the algorithm and AI talks? Beef and Pie is offering a very Austin alternative. We are bringing our new Austin History Documentary Project into local agencies and companies. We get everyone together – in person! - for a shared magical trip. (Peyote optional.) We show how we took Austin’s very first mural online and turned it into an interactive online experience filled with stories that are pure gold. We’ll explore the site, play new short documentaries, talk armadillos, mescaline, and the time Oat Willie ran for governor. We’ll be connecting the dots from 1970’s Austin to the city we live in today. It’s a Beef and Pie Hippie Hour. Drinks are on you. Are they fun? Ask Helms Workshop, BUTLER or Guerilla Suit.
