This week on the Denizen podcast we're exploring currency innovation with the formidable Ferananda Ibarra. We love this conversation for two reasons -- it takes us to the threshold of our inquiry, questioning the sacred cow of money. It also gets into a longstanding question of ours: how might the decentralized web enable economic innovation and experimentation? While the headline is currency innovation, it's really a wide ranging discussion that explores money, wealth, living systems, flow, information ecology, indigenous wisdom, biomimicry, and more. Her work is an inspiring example of what it looks like when we integrate many of the topics in the Denizen inquiry in one place. 关于我们
Denizen's work is centered on an ongoing inquiry that explores these questions, spanning six themes: economics, politics, justice, technology, culture, and consciousness. We curate a wide range of guests on our podcast Becoming Denizen. We also create summaries on our website on essential topics such as universal basic income, long term capitalism, and decentralized social media. At the heart of Denizen is a community that recognizes the need to redesign the value systems, incentives, and social contract underpinning modern society. In both our personal and professional lives, we are committed to this cause. We are a diverse collective that includes entrepreneurs, technologists, scholars, artists, activists, healers, designers, investors and nonprofit leaders. Amongst us are systems change leaders at organizations such as Zebras Unite, Purpose, the Center for Humane Technology, the Post Growth Institute, and the Buckminster Fuller Institute.

We've explored economic reform extensively on the Denizen podcast, but political reform is just as important and central to our inquiry! Just in time for the upcoming US election, today's episode focuses on an important innovation for democracies around the world: citizen's assemblies. It's like jury duty for policy, and it circumvents a lot of incentive issues faced by elected officials. Interest in them has been growing over the last decade, with the world's first permanent assemblies now established in Brussels and Paris in the last few years. Our guest, Claudia Chwalisz is the founder and CEO of DemNext and is at the forefront of this work. Honestly, we could not have asked for a better person to teach us about this essential topic. In today's episode of the Denizen podcast, we’re discussing healing trauma, specifically what is required to address trauma at the root: in our nervous systems.?This topic is critical because what most of us don’t realize is how many people live in a perpetually dysregulated state due to unresolved trauma.?This leaves us with an ongoing baseline of reactivity, hypervigilance, and anxiety that spills over into every area of our lives.?Very often our unresolved trauma stems from so far into our childhoods that we are unable to parse out who we actually are at our core from who we become when our nervous systems are stuck in a fight, flight, or freeze response. Our guest for this episode is Danielle Rubio.?Danielle uses nervous system rewiring, movement therapy, and mindfulness to help her clients do the deep work required to truly address their trauma and live lives of purpose from a center, empowered place.?She is a yoga and meditation teacher, reiki master, and touch therapist who has studied extensively with leaders in the field such as Dr. Fleet Maul, Irene and Seth Lyon, Gabor Mate, and Arielle Schwartz. We've just released this week’s episode with David Cooley!??This important conversation gets to the bottom of why, more often than not, our attempts at conflict resolution lead to more disconnection rather than repair.? Drawing from his background in restorative justice, David distinguishes between two very different paradigms we can bring to conflict resolution: adversarial and restorative.? As this conversation reveals, most of us are unwittingly bringing an adversarial stance to our intimate relationships, resulting in a me vs. you mentality that triggers our nervous systems and inhibits our ability to restore connection.? David and Jenny discuss how the adversarial paradigm shows up in our beliefs and behaviors, their restorative counterparts, and what the work looks like to transform conflict into an opportunity for deeper intimacy.? We talk extensively about the nervous system along the way. Listen on Apple: https://lnkd.in/gTvuVGyR Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gnZmxTKE The Denizen website: https://lnkd.in/ggTtptge Other platforms: https://lnkd.in/g2nH5S6D We are also sharing David’s exceptional handouts, which are an incredible resource to support you making the shifts we discuss in the episode.? What does it mean to live an authentic life? Why is living authentically so central to Denizen's vision of humanity flourishing in harmony with life on earth? What is the work required to align with our true selves? It was a thrill to dig into these questions with Maria, who co-leads Hoffman’s international activities.?She is also trained in Gestalt therapy, mindfulness, and emotion-Focused therapy.?She has a PhD in psychology and has been studying and practicing Buddhism for over 20 years. We discuss what it looks like to live authentically vs. compulsively, integrate lessons from psychology and spirituality, delineate common misconceptions, and uncover what it looks like to live as our true selves throughout each day.
