14,000 Bechtel colleagues, 50 offices and projects, 11 countries. That's what Monday looked like when thousands of our #Bechtel colleagues stood shoulder to shoulder to reaffirm our commitment to preventing suicides in the construction industry. ? This week, Bechtel joined the construction industry as a proud sponsor in recognizing #ConstructionSuicidePreventionWeek, an important time to raise awareness about mental health and the devastating rates of suicide in our field. ? At our Reston, Virginia HQ, #Bechtel chairman and CEO Brendan Bechtel reflected: "I can't think of a more pressing problem confronting our industry, and at Bechtel, we're committed to finding solutions. You saw the first step earlier this year when we announced our five-year partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Together, we are going to provide critical suicide prevention resources to people in our industry. We owe it to them, to our colleagues, and to their families to do something about this." ? #Bechtel president and COO Craig Albert echoed this sentiment: "I can't emphasize enough the importance of us taking this on. We have to apply to mental health and suicide prevention the same kind of rigor and conviction that we apply to physical safety." ? All of us have a role to play and Monday's stand-down was a reminder that a true culture shift is necessary for progress to occur—and we're on our way here at Bechtel. We can encourage openness and have candid discussions about mental health to eliminate stigma. We can learn to recognize the signs of someone at risk. And we can offer support to those struggling by connecting them to resources that can help. ? As Brendan shared: "An industry-wide problem demands industry-wide solutions. No one can do this alone, so we're asking other companies to join in our fight." Learn how: https://lnkd.in/gY8ikWhb

?? Bringing clean, renewable energy to Calhoun County, Michigan! ?? Hecate Energy LLC has selected our #Bechtel team to deliver Sunfish Solar 2, the first project in Hecate’s 1-gigawatt renewable energy development. The Sunfish Solar 2 facility will generate 360 megawatts of clean energy—enough to power 183,500 Michigan homes, and the development will offset nearly 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.?That’s the equivalent of removing more than 300,000 passenger vehicles from the road each year. ???? “We are proud to support Michigan’s renewable energy goals with this milestone project, and to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future, while also creating high-quality clean energy jobs,” said Scott Austin, Bechtel’s General Manager of Renewables & Clean Power. This new facility, which will be one of the largest solar facilities in the state, plays a key role in supporting Michigan’s goal of producing 50% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and creating over 350 local construction jobs. ??? And to bring this project to life, Bechtel will utilize its award-winning digital delivery approach to design, construct, and commission the facility, leveraging autonomous technologies to enhance project delivery! This week, while 40,000 energy professionals gather at the #REPlus24 conference in Anaheim, California,?we are reminded of the importance of, and Bechtel's commitment to, advancing clean energy and creating sustainable solutions for future generations. ?? Check it out: #Bechtel President and COO, Craig Albert, shared a behind-the-scenes look at Bechtel's mobile Hazard School where we're providing hands-on training and recreating real work scenarios to prepare colleagues for success in the field.
It's one thing to say we're committed to safety, but it's another to relentlessly pursue zero safety incidents every day—which is what we are determined to achieve at Bechtel. ? I witness this dedication firsthand during visits to our teams in the field, most recently at Bechtel's mobile Hazard School in Ohio. The school's tagline—Improve, Learn, Experience—describes our approach to job safety and training. ? At the Hazard School, new colleagues engage in hands-on training that simulates common job site scenarios, learning to identify and mitigate risks effectively. By recreating real conditions, we improve workers' situational awareness around their behavior, surroundings, and potential safety threats. ? Our Hazard School resides in a 3,600-square-foot facility with 12 stations that cover essential practices, including the use of hand power tools, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, lifting and rigging, environmental and industrial hygiene, and more.?We also conduct the full training in Spanish and other languages to make sure all colleagues benefit from the training. ? It is hard not to feel the passion and unwavering commitment of our instructors; and I'm very pleased to report that 1,000 craft professionals have been through the program in Ohio this year alone. ? When it comes to safety, our industry must continue to advance hands-on training experiences to enhance workforce preparedness, and Bechtel's Hazard School plays a crucial role in making this a reality.

The votes are in! Yesterday, we asked you a trivia question about Bechtel's involvement in the Olympics…With over 1,300 votes cast, did you guess it right? Let’s see! ?? Since the 1980s, Bechtel has played a key role developing the infrastructure for 6 Olympic host cities. ?? Here’s a look back at some of our key projects: ?? Starting with the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, our #Bechtel team expanded the LAX airport, adding two new terminals, more parking, and a second level to the airport access road — all without interrupting normal operations. Bechtel colleagues were part of a committee that transformed 60+ facilities in Southern California into competition sites, training centers, support facilities, and Olympic Villages. ??? In Barcelona in 1992, we helped upgrade venues and infrastructure to set the stage for a memorable Summer Games. From adding a new terminal at the El Prat airport and building a 27-mile beltway around the city, Bechtel helped transform Barcelona for the ’92 Olympics. ?? Gearing up for the Nagano 1998 Winter Games, Bechtel provided design, procurement, engineering, and construction services for a $110 million Winter Olympic convention center with our joint venture partner. The 430,000-square-foot complex featured a hotel, meeting spaces, and a press briefing center. ?? Skiing ahead to Salt Late City in 2002, Bechtel helped develop a $1.4 billion budget for the Winter Games, which was the first to include Paralympic athletes. The budget included medical services and security, 600 projects—including the construction of event venues—and 3,000 activities, such as the Olympic Torch relay. ?? Fast forward to Athens 2004, we managed the expansion of the city's subway system. Our efforts added a new dimension to Athens’ transportation network, enhancing accessibility and leaving a lasting impact for the city’s future. ?? And in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, ahead of the city's first Olympic Games, Bechtel deployed a team to provide project management services in partnership with Brazilian engineering firm, Promon Engenharia, to help open Metr?Rio’s new Line 4 – adding ~10 miles of underground rail and six new stations. At #Bechtel, we’re proud to support the Olympics, building on a legacy of transforming cities and connecting communities. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dP7KNK_V
