关于我们
Throwing Bones works hard to make a difference in the blood cancer community. We do this by holding these six key values: Awareness Community Persistence Service Patient-Focused Movement Our mission is to educate and advocate for individuals living with cancer to improve the quality of life through healthy and active lifestyles. Through education, events, support groups, etc we strive to make individuals cancer active so they can #keepmovingforward. Our 2023 projects include: Develop a patient assessment and coaching portal accessible to patients, their caregivers, and healthcare providers. Revitalize Cancer Active Self-Assessment video series by creating new videos, processes, and support to provide a free resource for patients to complete their own assessment in a thorough and impactful way. Host 6 education panels that bring team members together in a collaborative virtual space, from different specialties to focus on the needs of the patient. Specialists include, but are not limited to oncologists, physical therapists, nutritionists, dietitians, and mental health professionals. Focus on patient advocacy by getting in the right rooms at the right tables to not only advocate for blood cancer patients, but expand awareness and in turn be able to more extensively support the patients in our community. Expand on our current patient support by conducting and organizing 12 support groups throughout the year. Interested in learning more about Throwing Bones commitment for 2023? Connect with us today!

On #WorldCancerDay, we take a moment to honor those affected by cancer - survivors, warriors, and those we’ve lost. At Cancer Active, we are acutely aware of the disparities in healthcare that continue to affect many, especially within historically marginalized communities. These disparities are not the result of individual biology, but rather the systemic inequities that shape the healthcare landscape. To truly address these issues, we must confront not just individual biases, but the structural factors that influence health outcomes. Beyond confrontation, it’s time to create new structures to combat systemic and personal bias. This is why we are deeply committed to offering solutions that support every cancer patient, regardless of background. One of the most critical steps we are taking toward this goal is the Cancer Active Patient Portal (CAPP). The CAPP will be a free, comprehensive platform that supports cancer patients through a holistic approach, integrating physical, mental, and nutritional health assessments with personalized resources, peer support groups, educational tools, and interactive services. The CAPP is about providing cancer patients with the tools, community, and support to navigate their health journey. By offering a more inclusive, patient-focused approach to care, CAPP seeks to break down barriers, ensuring that all individuals have access to the resources they need to live a healthier, more active life despite their cancer diagnosis. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to creating a future where cancer patients receive not only the medical care they need, but the holistic, personalized support that empowers them go beyond just surviving. No one should face cancer alone, which is why we diligently work to create community, solutions, and support. We are grateful for your support as we continue this journey.
