Founded in 1965 by Leon Beaty, Beaty Construction has grown from a small family business to a substantial, multi-faceted, self-perform contractor serving Indiana and its surrounding states. We started with a focus on state heavy highway and bridge projects. Over 50 years later, we are still dedicated to being one of the top bridge contractors in the state of Indiana, but we also work in the private sector. Our extensive and diverse portfolio includes deep foundations, earth retention systems, underpinning, low headroom construction, large excavations, pedestrian trails, environmental remediation, civil works, and demolition. It is with heavy hearts that we honor the life and legacy of Mary Ann Beaty, co-founder of Beaty Construction. In 1965, she and Leon built the company from the ground up—while Leon constructed roads and bridges, Mary Ann kept the books from their home office, ensuring a strong foundation for the business. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community leader, she was the heart of our company from the very beginning. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering support shaped Beaty Construction and the many lives she touched. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered. ?? Good to collaborate with students and interns from Purdue.
Students had an amazing opportunity to learn as the Beaty jobsite set a pedestriage bridge truss over the White River at 106th Street. There were two crawler cranes working simultaneously to lift the 200 foot truss off the floating barge and set into place on top of the bridge piers. Beaty had roughly four inches of play on both sides to land the truss over its anchoring holes. Constant communication between the crane operators, superintendent, and workers on the bridge piers was crucial for proper execution. The teamwork paid off and the truss was set properly and safely in minutes. What took only a matter or minutes to execute, took several weeks to plan. A crane pick plan was used to see exactly what size crane would be required for the process. Causeways into the river were installed to build the piers and to act as a crane pad for the truss setting. The trusses came in smaller pieces and were assembled on site and, once complete, one end was put on a barge and winches to the other side of the river. Once ready to pick and place, a crane on the barge side of the river was utilized for placement. Beaty will be pouring the bridge deck in the Spring and will complete the project in the Fall of 2025. Big things are happening on the Henry Street Bridge project! ?? Beaty Construction has placed 23,000 tons of stone to create a 500-foot causeway across the White River, with over 2,500 feet of steel pipes allowing the water to flow freely underneath. We've also removed three old bridge foundations downstream and set the temporary casings for the new piers.A 250-ton crawler crane is on-site, working hard to install the end bent piling on both riverbanks. Next steps: Drilled shaft installation, end bent construction, and building the pier footings and stems.
