One week from today is the first day of our Lenten {prayer & fundraising} Campaign ??? These weeks leading up to Easter are a beautiful and thoughtful season in the Christian walk of faith, one of increased intentionality, diligence, and prayer as we prepare our hearts. And we would like to ask you to participate in Lent with us this year in a very particular way. Beginning next week, our support page will look a little different. We are asking members of our community, old and new, to consider adopting one day to set time aside in intentional prayer for Beatrice Institute: for our mission and students, our faculty and greater community, our team, and our work. If able we also ask you to consider financially supporting us; each donation helps us accomplish very real aspects of our mission!

  • Great Faculty Convivium last night featuring Theresa (Hardy) Stujenske, PhD, RN! She discussed data privacy issues in apps that ask for and track medical information, highlighting the lack of transparency in data usage policies, the potential for unauthorized sharing of personal health data with third parties, and insufficient regulatory oversight. Special thanks to Joshua Snoke and Friendship Avenue Church for the beautiful space to meet!

Our February 6th Faculty Convivium features Dr. Theresa Stujenske as she explores the critical issue of data privacy in digital health technologies, using menstrual cycle tracking applications as a case study. The Christian Faculty Convivium creates a space for faculty to meet, collaborate, and foster intellectual friendships. Twice a semester, Beatrice Institute Faculty Fellows host an evening of refreshments and a short talk. Consonant with Beatrice Institute's mission, these gatherings are animated by intellectual friendship and allow area faculty to explore interdisciplinary collaborations and enjoy the company of those who pursue the Beautiful, the Good, and the True. This is an open event, so feel free to pass this information along to any local faculty member who might be interested in attending or learning more about Beatrice Institute! Spouses and significant others are welcome, and childcare and pizza will be available for little ones! https://lnkd.in/e6Jj2ag3

What makes us human? And how do we prove it? David Lynch spent his career wrestling with this cosmic question. His works reveals beauty and transcendence hidden in the grotesque. "The Elephant Man" remains his clearest meditation on humanity, faith, and our upward longing, set against a Victorian society that dared to see the image of God in suffering. #faith #film
