It seemed as though the wealthy held all the cards, leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves. However, I've learned that life's challenges are meant to build us, not break us. The obstacles I encountered taught me resilience, perseverance, and hope. The Schiele name, of German origin, traces back to my ancestors who likely arrived in the U.S. during the mid-19th century, settling in Natchez, Mississippi, and Frogmore, Louisiana. My great-grandfather, Robert D. Schiele, became a prominent local figure, overseeing 17 tenant farmers and owning a cotton gin, school, and commissary on his property. His legacy of hard work and community influence was carried on by my grandfather, Benjamin Schiele, and my father, Theodore Roosevelt Schiele, as they navigated the challenges of farming through the Great Depression and beyond.
