The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report reveals a staggering 18.1% increase in homelessness nationwide from 2023 to 2024. Alarmingly, every subgroup—except veterans—saw an increase, including older adults aged 55+. On a single night in 2024, one in five people experiencing homelessness was 55 or older. This mirrors what we’re seeing in our communities and highlights the urgent need for action. We must support policies that expand access to affordable housing, ensure wages can sustain families, and provide comprehensive support systems. At Community Housing Network, we remain committed to addressing these challenges head-on and advocating for change. Exciting news from Monday's spectacular ribbon-cutting event at the Samaritan Center! ?? Congratulations to SER Metro-Detroit for solely owning the property and having a strong vision for its future as an icon in the community. SER Metro has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to renovating the center, supported by Pace Financial Group and a significant LEO Grant. This initiative will undoubtedly enhance the facility, making it more attractive to the right tenants and partners dedicated to serving our hardworking population on the east side of Detroit and beyond.
