We are excited to welcome Krystal Acierto to the BEAM Team as our Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs!?Krystal was previously the Deputy Secretary for Public Policy at the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) covering waste management, circular economy, and sustainable pest management issues, and served as Acting Director of CalRecycle. She has extensive fiscal and public policy experience including leading numerous climate initiatives at the California Department of Finance, including for?extreme heat, nature-based solutions, zero-emission vehicles, agriculture, flood and drought, circular economy, and coastal and climate resilience. Krystal says, “I was born and raised in the Northern San Joaquin Valley and am excited to get back to my roots to support the agricultural sector and work to create meaningful job opportunities, all while also promoting and building out the circular bioeconomy here and elsewhere that is critical in meeting our ambitious climate goals.” Krystal earned a Master of Public Policy and Administration degree from California State University, Sacramento, and Bachelors of Science degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Plant Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
