Amber had a busy week out of the office! Firstly, she attended Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association for the Branch annual meeting for the Women of Asphalt where she ran into Barb from the Association of Women Contractors who was a speaker. Next, she had a meeting with the AWC build-up crew, where they got all the baby snuggles from one of the members newest arrival. Finally, she went to Bassford Remele (also AWC members) for a highly informative training seminar on mechanics liens. Thanks again Janine Loetscher and team! Earlier this month Amber attended a Women of Asphalt Executive Seminar that was hosted as Astec Industires in Chattanooga Tennessee. There, she toured the Astec manufacturing facility, heard from key personnel in the industry sharing their experience and time being in the industry, and ate a ton of delicious food because she was in the south of course! "One thing that I have stressed over the years of owning this business is never get complacent and never stop trying to learn. I will be the first one to say "I had no idea, teach me!" This year was one of our biggest learning curve years and it's not going to stop. That is why I pursued joining this group so I can continue to learn and grow and keep up with the every changing rules and regulations when it comes to road construction." This year we are joining the force and celebrating Driver Appreciation Week. Many don't realize how important truckers are to our economy. ?? More than 72.6% of the nations freight is moved by trucks. ?? Nearly every sector of our economy relies on trucking. ?? Trucking is a critical link to the supply chain. Moving raw materials to manufacturing centers and then transporting the finished goods to distribution centers or stores, and then to you directly in cases. ?? Last but not least, our roads and infrastructure! Without truckers we wouldn't have the roads that we commute everyday day with and the buildings we work from. So this week, thank a trucker of any kind. They deserve it.
