Today, B.E. Academy for Girls had an opportunity to visit Amazon headquarters. Each #BEgirl was paired with a mentor and spent the day job shadowing with successful women in engineering. They learned about everything from industrial design, supply chain, product management and compliance to recruitment, fulfillment, and the various Amazon affinity groups. They learned how important it is to let their voice be heard and pursue their goals. I am so proud of these young ladies! Watching them grow over this school year has brought me so much joy! It's B.E.A. at BNA! Last Friday, our girls had an opportunity tour the Nashville International Airport Crisis Management Center! They managed a simulated blizzard and had to make hard decisions to save the day at BNA! They broke into teams and decided how they would clear the runways of ice and snow, how they would get the stranded passengers off the planes, and how they would ensure the safety of the roadways leading to the airport. Each team presented out to the group to update everyone on their progress - just like a real crisis management briefing at the airport! They visited the camera room that has all eyes on the entire airport and learned about the various careers they could explore in emergency management. Our 6th graders at B.E. Academy for Girls got their hands dirty (literally!) while exploring groundwater layers in science class. From the saturated zone to impermeable rock, they built 3D clay models to see how it all works beneath the surface. At B.E. Yesterday, St. George's Episcopal Church stopped by to drop off a $21,000 check to B.E. Academy! We are so grateful for the support of our mission and our girls. We are so excited about our new music program for this semester. Every Wednesday, the girls will have a DJing class with Mr. Calv. In this course, the girls will learn the business, culture, history, and art of DJing - and will also learn how to mix their own DJ set. This week, they picked their DJ names and got a first look at the equipment they'll be working with. At the end of the program, we will host a party, and each girl will have time to showcase what they learned. At B.E. Academy, we blend traditional classes with culturally relevant programs and STEAM activities to provide our girls with a comprehensive learning experience tailored to their needs.
