Can't believe it's been 5 years!! Thank you for everything you do Planned Parenthood Federation of America ??
5 years ago I made this video with Camilla Borel-Rinkes -- ps. you should totally watch it. It's in these moments I feel so proud of the journey and the stuff I created ?? Despite the outcome. Yes, a devastating decision was made by the supreme court (aka the #GaffelGang, I see you John Oliver ??) that impacts many, many women and families across the US. But, for me this is the ultimate example of 'it's about the journey, not the outcome." Most people didn't understand why I would randomly start making videos -- I had no experience and it made no sense in the trajectory of my career. I kinda agreed with them. I also knew video production wasn't going to be a longterm pursuit, but it didn't matter, because making these videos mattered to me. I believed in them. I stood behind them. They needed to exist. Now looking back on it, I probably was in a mini-existencial quarter life crisis - which btw if you're there, you should totally lean into it, it's kinda fun and liberating ??♂???♂???♂? . Anyway, the process of creation is inherently cathartic for humans. That's why we obsessively started baking bread and growing plants during the pandemic. I would argue, it doesn't matter what you create (just don't make it hateful, or ignorant, or harmful... you get the gist), but rather lean into the journey of taking something that's in your head and make it exists outside of the borders of your mind. It's amazing. Besides me being a MASSIVE fan of therapy and coaching (shameless plug for manatee ??) I think shifting yourself from being a consumer to a creator is arguably the best way to build purpose. Which in turn (you guessed it....) is IMPERATIVE for resilience, which is a huge antidote against depression and mental health issues. Anyway, thank you for sticking with me through this Friday ramble :) Only one question remains... What are you gonna create? Here's the vid: https://lnkd.in/gG5M8z5e
