There is so much beauty in being Black, and I celebrate this every day of the year by instilling this sentiment into my daughter.”

This includes active listening to understand challenges and strengthen relationships, awareness education to spark conversations about financial literacy and equity, donations to relevant causes, and attending culturally significant events. “Listen to the experiences and perspectives of African American individuals. Learn about the economic history, financial challenges, and opportunities impacting communities. Contribute to organizations that combat racial injustice, provide scholarships, support health, or enhance economic mobility. Support events that celebrate African American culture.”

Honoring Legacy, Inspiring the Future Our BOLD (Black Originators Leaders and Doers) Belonging Group is committed to empowering Black voices while breaking barriers within our industry and community. In celebration of Black History Month, members of the group reflect on inspirational figures, what the month means to them, and ways others can honor this pivotal time. Today's highlight about a person from Black history comes from Ciji White, who admires Shirley Chisholm and the groundbreaking work she accomplished without ever straying from her beliefs. “Shirley was a trailblazer who fought for racial and gender equality, economic justice, and education reform. She was also the first African American woman to serve in Congress. She inspires me to always reach for more and to constantly strive to accomplish my goals.”
